I see dull people...
Not terrible, but only marginally better than adequate.
This movie from the UK turned out to be pretty good. The story deals with Matthew, a teenager who is haunted by the memory of his younger brother who disappeared one day. Their dad was away for work, it was Matthew's birthday so he had friends over and was drinking when his younger brother told him he wanted to go to the playground near their apartment building. Matthew tells him to go ahead and he will find him later. When Matthew does go to collect his little brother, he isn't there and can't be found. Blaming himself, Matthew has a breakdown that probably isn't helped by his dad, who also blames Matthew. Out of a mental hospital, Matthew still struggles…
This movie ultimately made itself disappear after featuring such an unoriginal premise and outcome.
Nice effort with a decent final act. Just takes ages getting there. Try Heartless instead.
Not sure about this. Interesting in a way but falls completely apart and the ending felt contrived. I’m not certain what truly happened to the kid.
Another view of Britain I don't recognise. There seems to be two views of Britain on film. Either too bright too twee too chocolate box or overly dark, dank and depressing. I live in UK. I don't recognise either but both are good for make believe. I'm not naive enough to say that because I don't recognise either they don't exist. They do. But most of us Brits don't live in these realities. So it's as much a suspension of belief for me as someone outside UK. This tale just didn't seem to flow or seem grounded. The acting was OK. But a couple of roles I felt were miscast. Not saying the acting was bad but the actors were too…
A weirdly captivating film. Got Tom Felton in it pretending to be a lad who has grown up on a council estate when he clearly has not. Not sure if I would watch it again
Slow burn British thriller about a teenager whose younger brother goes missing and he's haunted, both figuratively and literally by the disappearance.
Strange seeing Tom Felton as a rough council estate druggie in between Harry Potter films where he's a posh silver spoon fed boy. Harry Treadaway is great here, it's quite a dark film and the road the character goes down isn't nice.
I didn't guess where it was going to go, I thought it'd go one way then it did something different.
