Best song ever about a Spaceman is Don't Take Me To Space by The Brakes

    Check it out on YouTube

Turn it on Again might be the best record on this episode, I love it. Can't count for 1996 score, but I <3 it (as much as most of you hate it)

The Julian Cope episode is brilliant - he's a fantastic host.

Tick Phil Collins off the bingo card. Wonder if he'll pop up again later?

Not my type of music, but you can't argue that Solo have some vocal talents here. Actually enjoying this

For some reason, it reminds me of The Temptations "Just My Imagination".

    Probably Shed Seven's best song.

Not a band I've paid much attention to im the past, but that's about to change.

Dreadful cover of a absolute classic

Where are the machine guns 🔫?

The only reason 3/4 of Led Zeppelin aren't spinning in their graves is the fact they are still alive. Who allowed them to produce this drivel?

Ace of Base being another of those acts who turn out to have had more hits over a longer period than I'd've credited them with.

Possibly because they seem to be so bland and forgettable.

Ace of Base, are they going to perform tomorrow night at Eurovision? Probably not, their not the band most people want to reform

Their 15 minutes should have been up long before this one

From what I've heard, 30 seconds would be too much.

So who are the DS favourite Swedish acts then?

ABBA is a given... Cardigans, Roxette, Ace of Base...?

Could I be controversial and say Europe? Plus Yngwie Malmsteen, and Andy McCoy, best known for being in an otherwise Finnish band called Hanoi Rocks.

Dear me, this must be the nadir of '90s boybands.

Was there some kind of competition between boy bands, where they were all trying to be blander than each other?

If you are keeping count, this is the 6th time that Gangsta's Paradise has featured on Top of the Pops.

The reason for the latest play is that the movie Dangerouns Minds finally opened in UK cinemas last weekend causing the song to jump 7 places back up the chart.

Chart run so far - 1-1-3-2-2-2-3-5-7-6-7-10-18-11

As somebody who has never liked Gangsta's Paradise, could I just say "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!"?

Skunk Anansie with a great song. Excellent vocals as well

It sounded like the band were playing live, too.
P.S. Skunk Anansie are one of my favourite bands.
It can only go downhill from here.

    Song of the night?

3T were 3 sons of Tito Jackson and 3 nephews of Michael Jackson - Taj, Taryll and TJ - they were signed to Michael's MJJ Record Label.

This is the first of 3 Fridays in a row that they will appear on Top of the Pops with Anything - a song they wrote themselves.

A new entry at number 4 this week, the song will spend 3 weeks at number 2

If they weren't related to Michael Jackson, do you think they would have even been allowed in a recording studio?

Look up "bland" in the dictionary and if there's not a picture of 3T there it will be a travesty

Unfortunately, the picture is actually of another boyband, 3SL, which I always read as being "3 sad losers".

The best songs of the night for me go to Lush - Single Girl and Skunk Anansie - Weak.

A honourable mention for Shed Seven.

Whigfield in 1994 / Robson and Jerome in 1995 / now Babylon Zoo in 1996 - the only acts ( so far ) to go straight in at number 1 with their first shit.

    FTFY.

This Nightcrawlers song isn't normally the type of song I like but quite enjoying it!

It was an excellent live vocal by John Reid

Don't know why I didn't pick up on Lush and Shed Seven when they came out, both songs were right up my street back then.

Goldbug sounds better on the iPod

Babylon Zoo with a great performance and Gangsta's Paradise is a great performance too but I get why people are upset at another showing of it.

Upside Down, the epitomy of Manufactured Pop, you don't get Manufactured Britpop. Could imagine Skin walking past them with a look of disdain.

Didn't get into Skunk Anansie at the beginning, I picked up Stoosh, one Christmas Eve on CD for £4.99 and became a fan.

Seen them live, they are incredible, the only mistake is that they play Weak after Twisted when the crowd were worn out lol

Boy blands is more fitting - were Boyzone on the scene yet ? The blandest of the bland...
