Noah Berlatsky The Atlantic At Middleton is a bittersweet romantic comedy set in an exotic locale-a small liberal arts college campus. Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Thelma Adams Yahoo! Movies The college visit is a day trip fraught with tension and expectations played out by parents and children across America. In Adam Rodgers' comedy "At Middleton," unexpected love blossoms between the parental units in a single day on a verdant campus. Rated: 3/4 Sep 12, 2014 Full Review Scott Tobias The Dissolve Farmiga and Garcia have a chemistry that's unassuming and sneaky, and the pleasure they get from each other's company ultimately proves infectious[.] Rated: 3.0/5 Feb 6, 2014 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Now that we've matriculated and "graduated" At Middleton, let's go back for our Masters. Jan 8, 2020 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com It's a confidently made, well written and handsomely performed scenario that gets a surprising amount of mileage from overly familiar dramatic tensions. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Garcia and Farmiga's appealing chemistry supplies the pep missing from the limp script and although the prevailing mood is cosily light-hearted, there's a bittersweet undertone to the film. Steven S Nice little movie about what could never be as two strangers (parents) accompany their kids to a college tour and meet and squirrel away for their own tour. Unrequited relationships between 2 adults are painful… Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/01/23 Full Review Paul B Starts slowly as a parodic treatment of Boomer and Gen X adults, focused on responsibility and good parenting, taking their children on a college visit. It develops into a mildly interesting an amusing rom-com between parents who didn't bring along their respective spouses. A similar interplay between their offspring offers a subplot. Then, things devolve into a cliched celebration that the 60's and 70's left had it right all along. I'd like to see the film done with 2023 left woke sensibilities. That would be a parody worth watching. I fell in love with Vera Farmiga when she starred in Up in the Air. That poignant semi rom-com depicted real life adult situations and could hardly go wrong with Walter Kirn's material. At Middleton, Vera, along with her little sister and Andy give it the good old college try, but even those formidable performances can't save it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review Mike J Sonic is a lord lord king king lord lord evil lord lord king king lord king evil king king Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/29/22 Full Review corkball Ferris Bueller for adults? Two parents are taking their respective kids to a college tour, and of course they are opposites, but they strike up a friendship and play hooky from the tour - hijinx ensue. It isn't rip roaring funny or anything, but it is engaging enough to watch. The leads are ok, but geez Garcia has to be like 20 years older than the female lead. The acting is pretty good, but the script, after a strong start, starts to peter and gasp.
