Student stories

  • I feel so privileged to have studied at WAAPA, it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life

I would not have been ready to step into the professional world without the music theatre course, and my dreams of being a performer would have stayed only that – dreams. If I was to encourage someone to do one thing in their life, it would be to work hard for your dreams.

  • Studying classical guitar at WAAPA is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences

I began my studies as a timid girl with much to learn, but found quickly that being surrounded by passionate staff and students every day created an excellent environment for learning and developing my craft. All of the classes helped to further my development as a musician, however for me, the highlight was my individual tuition, workshop classes, and frequent performance opportunities as they really helped me to grow in confidence and gain experience as a performer.

  • Not only does WAAPA have a great reputation among the industry, but you don't quite realise how great the training is until you are able to apply it in a professional context

Those three years dedicated to honing my skill set gave me a steady confidence and foundation to build on.
