There’s never a bad time to release a comedy like How to be a Bookie, a title so funny that it will have you laughing so hard that you’ll cry, fall on the floor, or both.

The HBO Max original series, co-created by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, is currently in its beginning stages, meaning you’ll have to wait a little longer to see this hilarious title on your screens. But thankfully, we have some juicy information that may aid in your waiting — the cast of the upcoming release!

Here’s who you can expect to see in How to be a Bookie, along with the descriptions of the character each actor plays.

How to be a Bookie cast and characters

As per Variety, the cast of How to be a Bookie thus far features Sebastian Maniscalco, Andrea Anders, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, and Queen Sugar star Omar J. Dorsey.

Dorsey will play the role of Ray, a former athlete who is “as imposing as he is complicated”. Ever since Ray’s early retirement, he’s gone through various financial difficulties, leaving himself, his grandmother, his child, and his wife, Sandra, in a fight for monetary survival.

Anders is Sandra, Ray’s spouse, who is best described as a “demanding wife”. However, her incessant nagging stems from her profound desire to leave a life of scraping by behind. That way, her family can truly enjoy the pleasures that come with not having to worry about how the next light bill will be paid.

Garcia will play the role of Hector, a former drug dealer who lost his status in the drug-dealing community once marijuana became legal. He is a testament to what happens when that which was illegal becomes legal, hence why he is an “invaluable, if occasionally volatile asset” to the team.

Ferlito is Lorraine, a “stone-cold criminal” who relishes in delinquency. Her unhinged behavior and vast knowledge of the criminal world make her the perfect person to see over her brother Danny’s operation.

Lastly, Maniscalco will play the role of Danny, a bookie (sports betting gambler) who finds a neat way to profit off his state’s upcoming legalization of sports betting. But of course, everything has its consequences, and it seems he has a couple of things to learn about how to successfully run a bookie organization.

We’re sure to know even more about the aforementioned characters when the series is released on HBO Max. Until then, stay tuned with Hidden Remote for more information about How to be a Bookie.
