Are we heading for a season-ending wedding, Fire Country fans?

As of late on the CBS hit, there has been much talk of Gabriela’s (Stephanie Arcila) engagement to new-ish flame Diego (Rafael de la Fuente), including her hesitation to invite her estranged mother to the wedding.

But as Manny (Kevin Alejandro) recently made clear to mija, Gabriela’s mother didn’t abandon them both years ago; she walked out on him, after he failed again and again to “be there” as a husband. As such, Manny said, Gabriela should endeavor to have both of parents on hand for her big day.

Well, TVLine can exclusively report that Gabriela’s mother, Roberta, will show up later this season, played by Paola Núñez (whose recent TV credits include Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher).

Núñez’s Roberta is described as dazzling, bright, bold and beautiful. Effusive, persistent, strong-willed and not one to keep quiet — but also with a certain elegant charm — she is eager to reconnect with the daughter she barely knows, I am told.

Roberta will appear in Fire Country‘s Friday, May 3 episode, which has to be at or very near the end of the 10-episode season. (I took math!)

In addition to Núñez’s role as The Fall of the House of Usher‘s Dr. Allesandra Ruiz aka Victorine’s (T’Nia Miller) girlfriend and colleague, her many TV credits include Netflix’s Resident Evil, USA Network’s The Purge, Telemundo’s La Reina del Sur and Reina de corazones, AMC’s The Son and Azteca’s Destino.

CBS’ Fire Country resumes its sophomore run next Friday, March 15.
