Being a meat lover , I had read that the Asador Donostiarra specializes in grilled meat . Following the appetizers of artichokes and asparagus which were ok,my sister and I ordered the chuleta ( grilled beef ) . Sadly and to our great disappointment when the meat was brought to the table , we realized that the precut strips of beef were loaded with fat . Here we are not talking of normal marbling of meat but loose fat basically all over . I mentioned it to the waiter who excused himself and was going to mention it to the Manager . He stated that in Spain , most grilled meats are presented with a lot of fat to make it tastier. I have been to many other excellent grilled meat specialty restaurants in Madrid and never before today have I ever been presented meat with loads of fat ! For 72€ a chunk of meat one would expect a more satisfying experience . I personally would not travel the whole way up to this location for such an unsatisfactory main course .

An outstanding, traditional restaurant, with excellent food and service, had a great time. No fuss, no particular luxury, but the food is wow and the waiters look like bankers, extremely courteous and professional. Try the beef (chuleton). If you want can't decide what you want, they also offer half-size/half-price portions which is great to mix and share and try everything. They really know what they are doing here and you will not regret it, everything was perfect. Will definitely be back.

I had lunch at Asador Donostiarra with friends, and it was an exceptional experience, with a fantastic service.
We had a range of dishes like parrillada de verduras, chipirones fritos, and solomillo de vaca. Everything tasted great. It's definitely not cheap, but you're paying tor quality.
Lots of celebrity photos on the walls, specially soccer players.
It's a must-visit in Madrid

This place looks like the interior didn't have an update since it has opened its doors but that its the charm of this place!
They serve amazing food (Try the the steak on a hot stone. Cant remember what it is called unfortunately) and the waiters truly understand their job. They took their time for us and made us feel very welcome.
Definitely worth a visit!

We looked for a convenient and not so expensive restaurant near the hotel we were in. Most of the restaurants were full, you couldn't order a table until the next day. And we were hungry... suddenly I saw this restaurant which was 1.2 km, and it has plenty of place. It had (on Google suggestions) a normal price, so I booked the time 20:45pm. As we got there, we realized it's another kind of restaurant, a classic one. Had a steak for a 10 years old kid, a plate of beef for me, and other things, as you can see on the invoice. The food was really tasty, the prices normal, the desserts were tasty and the whole atmosphere of the place - ausom. You could see couples and groups of friends sitting and enjoying there.

The food was absolutely delicious—we relied on recommendations from the charming hostess, and we very much enjoyed every course. We would love to give an additional star or two, but the place is quite uncomfortable. The lights are way too bright—it’s like a grammar school cafeteria. Please replace the horrible fluorescent lights with incandescent lights and set the lights at “dim”! Also, the decor is too sparse, which makes the restaurant look cold and empty. Please add some warmth somewhere—there ought to be at least one cozy room. Instead, the tables and chairs are unwelcoming. The restaurant would benefit from a serious makeover—this is the 21st Century!

Fantastic food! If you want "Quality", come to The Asador Donostiarra. Warm environment and professional staff.
Lots of pictures of celebrities (mostly soccer players) on the wall.
The food is traditional yet SUPERB! Cant wait to come back.

Amazing experience. We have just moved to Madrid and I had to go do some legal things round the corner and nothing else was open. Even though at Donostiarra they weren’t “officially” opened they let my wife sit there for 15 minutes while I went on my rounds. We decided to have dinner there because my wife had said that they treated her very well and welcomed her with open arms even though we were there before opening. Dinner was amazing, the food was exceptional and the service was like walking into your own home, warm and friendly. I’d like to thank everyone at Donostierra for making us feel so at home in a new city. We will be coming back for sure and telling everyone about the great experience we had there.
Could not recommend this restaurant more!

Extremely tasty traditional Spanish food served by staff that have waited on many of the celebrities that adorn every wall. Food is delicious, staff are confident and very experienced. Great time had by all.
T-Bone, croquettes, iberico, fish salad, all really good. FYI - For Madrid, its pricey, and booking is essential.

You don't have to travel, you would feel like you are in the streets of San Sebastian. The food is superb, the fish and seafood are excellent while you can find a great meat selection. The staff is very friendly and full of energy to make this a lovely experience. If you're lucky you would be seating next to one of the top soccer players in the world whom go very regularly to this place.

If you want to go back to the stoneage, come to this place. The food was very boring and the staff as well. If you want to experience good food do not come here.

Second time I was here and this time with family. I was stunned again and so was both my wife and my 11 year old son. The meat is just fantastic. So is the ham, the tiramisu and by all means the wine. Don’t miss this amazing place

The restaurant was recommended by a friend who knows well how demanding I am on quality of the ingredients and wine list. He could not have recommended a better place. Nice atmosphere and careful service were excellent add ons to the evening, but the meat (their signature entrecôte) was exceptionally tender and tasty. I will probably go again before the end of the trip. Wine list appropriate. We spent 230eur in two (but the wine alone was 120) and was definitely worth it!
