- Very nice for kids - we had a lot of fun. Everything is state-of-the-art. Also the restaurant is a recommendation - really fair prices.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert ORotterdam, The NetherlandsThe original historic church burned down in 1901. After the fire the church was restored using the 1450s format. It is an enormous building, but not monstrous.
The name of the village Monster is most probably derived from the Latin word 'monasterium', a name not just used for monasteries, but also for important churches such as this one. The original medieval church was dedicated to Machutus, a saint believed to be able to cure epilepsy. For centuries Monster was an important place of pilgrimage. Of course the tradition ended after the Reformation. The church is still the center of the Protestant community in Monster.Written July 1, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The present stone structure was built in 1882 after a fire devastated the old mill. It functioned on a commercial basis until 1932.
Monster has few historic buildings left, but this mill is definitely one of the finest. Hard to imagine that once the Monster area was agricultural land where wheat was cultivated and grinded at this mill.
Due to corona the mill was closed for visitors. Normally it is open on Saturday afternoon from 14:00 to 17:00.Written July 1, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
