Richard Schultz Schweiker was the 41st vice president of the United States, serving two terms with his president Ronald Reagan.

History

Schweiker was the Republican nominee for the 1984 presidential eclection but lost to his former colleague Gary Hart.

Behind the scenes

In OTL, Richard Schweiker was Reagan's^W running mate for the 1976 Republican National Convention^W. He was picked by Reagan to draw moderates to Reagan's side. He was his running mate for 10 days until Reagan narrowly lost the nomination to the incumbent president Gerald Ford^W. Reagan's vice president from 1981-1989 was George H. W. Bush^W.

In 2015, Schweiker died of complications from an infection at the age of 89.
