Oh boy…The Master at the peak of his powers! 😎

SRV will always be missed, but at least we have the studio and live recordings. 🙏

I used to be a cook, working nights. One night after work, a few of us sat on my patio drinking wine and smoking weed, listening to a tape my roommate had of Stevie playing with big brother Jimmie. I woke up in the morning to my roommate telling me Jimmie was dead. I thought he was joking. He said come upstairs and hear it for myself. Sure enough, it was all over the radio. We were devastated. :-(

I remember that very tragic day in late August really well. I was visiting a friend in Austin, TX - the town that had all the clubs where he played when he started to become really famous. (Yes, he’s from Dallas and he played all the time there too, but right before he got his gig with Bowie, he was playing Austin regularly.) I landed there just after he had died the night before…I had never seen an entire city be depressed before, but literally everyone was. Just silence and people with sad expressions everywhere. It was eerie, and appropriate. A true legend just passed. Everything was looking up for him, and heaven claimed there and then. As you said, just unbelievable - it didn’t seem like it was possible.
