13 Brands of Toys Made In The USA

A list of brands of toys made in the USA is sort of hard to find. We decided to create our own list with our own criteria, mainly that they really are made in the USA.

Small towns all over America are home to local, family-owned American businesses created from inception by red-blooded Americans. Toy brands made in the USA are right there with the clothing and home goods makers among us. They have your kids in mind from invention and design to manufacturing and sales. They hire local residents and donate to local organizations. Let’s support their businesses.

What I mean by Made in the U.S.A.

Because some companies advertise Made in the USA when what they really means is that their product is assembled in America using imported parts. Those are not the toy companies I am seeking to share with you at this time. Not to say there is anything wrong with that process, it is simply not my goal right now. Those folks are providing jobs to Americans too in their local factories and assembly lines.

However, it has come to my attention that for some toy brands, certain electronic parts are imported while every other aspect of the toy is made in America using American resources, generally local to their factories. I have included, with careful consideration one or two of those.

All of these American toy brand companies are also American-owned and operated and mostly family businesses. Some of them are actually rather small but produce lots of toys all year and even more during the holiday season. They increase their workforce and production providing local jobs and further stimulating their local economies.

Why buy American Made Toys

Shipping Delays should not stress parents or Santa

What brought this to my attention? Shipping delays for Santa have inspired me to conduct a search for toymakers in the United States whose toys are sourced and manufactured right here. Don’t you agree that Santa should never experience shipping delays?

Santa can experience a shipping delay brought on by a snowstorm at the North Pole maybe but we all know, he is smart enough to ship early. You be wise and shop early and shop for these toy brands who make their toys in America from American-made parts.

Ways To Reduce Screen Time & Stimulate Educational Play

Most, if not all of these American-made toy companies are promoting less screen time for kids. They are all about educational play, STEM toys, and more pretend play and family interaction through their products. Most if not all of these USA toy companies donate to local charities.

Step2 is the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys. Manufactured in Ohio, Step2 is a direct-to-consumer eCommerce website, servicing the 48 contiguous US states and DC.

Designed for imaginative play. Manufactured from start to finish in the USA. Not only are Green Toys one hundred percent designed and manufactured in the USA but they are also an eco-friendly company, making toys with recyclable materials.

Toys are made of 100% recycled plastic, mostly milk jugs. Further efforts to reduce the carbon footprint include 100% recyclable packaging for all products. So you can recycle the package too after you receive the toys. Even the print of the boxes is made with soy ink.

Remember those wooden blocks we all played with as toddlers? Fun fact-the good folks at Uncle Goose discovered in the 1980s that those are no longer made in the USA. So, they started their own block-making company, and here we are.

Uncle Goose blocks are the classic woodblock with letters and numbers. You can get them in a canvas bag or in the cute little wagon and lots of other options too. They also make and sell woodblock animals for pretend play and some round planets on rollers and much more.

4. Luke’s Toy Factory

A relatively new toy company designed and manufactured in Connecticut. Focused on creating environmentally sustainable toys that are also safe, durable, and FUN.

Luke’s Toys are made of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC). They recover organic materials like sawdust, flax, rice hulls, and coconut shells from other U.S. manufacturers to make their toys.

Luke’s toys are made in America from locally sourced materials. How cool is that! It isn’t really a question, we know it’s super cool.

Do you know how kids just love to take their toys apart? Well, Luke’s toys are designed to come apart and even can be mixed and matched. Kid’s love to play with dump trucks and Luke’s takes the toy truck to a whole new level with interchangeable parts and bright colors. They are just the right size for little hands.

Winner of the 2019 Teacher’s Choice Award for Best Pre-school Toys. That is a pretty big deal.

5. Maple Landmark

These Wooden toys are made in Vermont. That is pretty wholesome and gives me the warm and fuzzies.

This US toy company is a family business with a heartwarming story, in operation since 1979. These folks truly get it. While they create safe, sustainable, and quality products they also focus on elevating their local community through stable employment and support of other local businesses.

The most recognizable wooden toy brand is Maple Landmark. But you will also find good quality home decor and housewares on their site.

My Papa taught us to play Chinese checkers at a young age. It was one of my favorite things to do at my grandparent home. So I love this Printed Maple Chinese Checkers game. It is a great family game.

6. Roy Toy

Log building sets that can be configured in unlimited ways. Roy Toys are manufactured in Maine from sustainably-harvested Pine and colored with food-safe dye and sanded to a smooth finish.

The Roy Toy company was originally founded in the 1930s and revived in the 1990s by a grandson with a vision.

My brothers had a log cabin building set when we were younger. This Paul Bunyan 200-piece log building set is perfect for hours of indoor play. It is my favorite because it reminds me of my brothers and I playing and I know how much fun we had.

Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty

8. Crazy Aaron’s

Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty was inspired by the play putty of the ’50s which was ready for improvement. Thinking Putty is made in Pennsylvania. They are the innovative parent company of Land of Dough and both are manufactured at the same factory in Pennsylvania.

They have sets, games, and accessories like the football field goal which is kind of cool. I can see that on my husband’s desk at work. These are great stocking stuffer ideas.

A worthy note about this company is that they make a point to employ individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Carrom brand toys

9. Carrom

The Carrom Company has been manufacturing quality games for 130 years, right here in the United States, Ludington Michigan to be exact. Well, there was a brief period of time they moved to Sardis, MS. but it was very brief.

Carrom is a classic board game. It is sort of like playing pool with your fingers. Their line of board games began with the original Carrom and has grown to include classic board games, table hockey, and foosball tables. For the older kids, wooden balance boards with the roller that sinks in with the track attached to the board for a side-to-side motion.

An added bonus for The Carrom Company is their belief in giving back and supporting children’s organizations and schools.

Wildflower brand toys

10. Wildflower Toys™

Wildflower Toys is a small family business in northern California. All products and dolls are designed and handmade by the owner.

Toys include a great selection of adorable Fairy dolls, Dollhouse dolls and castle play, Craft sewing kits for children, and wooden toys like their Wildflower Peg dolls and Math Gnome Peg dolls. Shadow Puppets, and Craft Felt shapes.

Their doll themes cover most holidays and even storybook characters, Elf dolls, and Historical character dolls. They even have childhood cancer awareness dolls which are beautiful. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the childhood cancer awareness fairy dolls is donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

There is also a line of copy work and homeschool workbooks and gratitude journals which are very attractive.

Any of the Fairy Dolls are my favorite because they are such fun and so colorful. I can just see children making up their own stories to go along with each doll as they play.

Wikki Stix brand toys

11. Wikki Stix

You have got to love Wikki Stix! Made in the U.S.A., Phoenix, AZ entirely of USA- made raw materials.

Wikki Stix is a fun and colorful fidget toy made of hand-knitting yarn enhanced with a microcrystalline, food-grade non-toxic wax, the kind used in bubble gum and lipstick. You may have seen them in restaurants as an alternative to crayons for the kids.

Over the years, beginning around 1989, Wikki Stix has developed an entire treasure trove of toys and products around the original Wikki Stix. I can’t possibly name them all here but they include; educational, kits and sets, bilingual, books, games, holiday, travel, and more categories you need to browse. They even have special needs products with tips including non-verbal and sight impaired.

12. Lincoln Logs

Lincoln Logs were invented by John Lloyd Wright, the son of famous American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. They first hit the market in 1918 as the first toy to be marketed to both boys and girls. These construction set toys are named after former President Abe Lincoln who once lived in a log cabin. One of the first Lincoln Log sets was a log cabin.

Through the years the manufacturing process moved to China. However in 2014, 80% of production was moved back to the USA. Now owned by Basic Fun, Lincoln Logs are manufactured in Maine at Pride Manufacturing.

My favorite is the Oak Creek Lodge which is the original little log cabin with 137 pieces. It is recommended for ages 3 and up.

13. Friendly Loom Potholder Kits (Harrisville Designs)

Harrisville Designs has been an American company for over 50 years. Theirs is a great story of providing jobs in a textile mill village that had shut down. It reopened with the help of a father and son who had a vision for the community and their textile industry in Harrisville, New Hampshire. The Friendly Loom ™ Product line includes weaving, knitting, felting, and metal looms and cotton loops for weaving potholders.
