When people think of Kenny Chesney, they think of his high velocity stadium shows, which are no doubt where No Shoes Nation comes together at its most powerful. But long before Chesney became the only country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years, he captured the imagination of young people coming of age across America with amphitheater and arena shows that often crashed the switchboards and ticket sites in the markets where he played. Those shows had the same intensity, but also an intimacy that reflected who the attendees were as much as they were the life of the songwriter from East Tennessee.

With 23 stadium plays – on sale or sold out – across America, Chesney decided he wanted to capture some of that intimacy and intensity this summer, announcing his first amphitheater show of 2024 – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion at The Woodlands, TX, on May 9, 2024.

As he said, “It takes a lot of work to put together a stadium-sized show, and that’s actually part of the fun. But you can get so busy with all the details that go into a stadium show, it captures your focus... and then you look up, and you realize that there’s also this thing that’s smaller and more intimate, and you want that, too.

“There is nothing like being out on the lawn with your friends, or even under the pavilion, on a clear night hearing the music and just being in the moment. You can do some things in that environment you can’t at a stadium. It’s less production, less massive, but there’s a real sense of connection that is undeniable.”

For Chesney, who’s already sold out two Gillette Stadiums with an unprecedented third show added, Sun Goes Down 2024 represents a tour that celebrates the best of what his music embodies: the wild, the thoughtful and the good times in spite of what the day may’ve given you. To that effect, playing the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion fits the breadth of what his music contains.

“The Woodlands is one of those places where it feels like you can touch every single person who’s there,” says the man The Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” about returning to the storied Texas venue. “People come to have a good time, but they also come to really get inside the songs, and that makes it a very special place.”

Joining him for the show in The Woodlands on May 9 will be People’s Choice Awards Female Country Artist of the Year nominee and Country Music Association Song of the Year and Best New Artist nominee Megan Moroney. With a focus on energy and songs, it will be a night to sink into the best of what music provides.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 2. Fan club tickets will go on sale on Jan. 30.

With “Take Her Home” making its way up country radio’s top 40 after landing 133 reporting station adds its first week, Chesney continues creating a space where people who work hard, love deeply and live to enjoy everything life brings them can find kindred spirits and a real good time.

Presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum, Sun Goes Down 2024 is coming to Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for one night only.
