Greg Moore, who served as a Team Manager for his father’s iconic team Bud Moore Engineering, has passed away at the age of 67.

NASCAR issued a statement on Moore’s passing On Thursday.

“NASCAR is saddened to learn of the passing of Greg Moore.  Greg was a fixture in the NASCAR garage and played an important role in the success of Bud Moore Engineering.  Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

The Bud Moore Engineering team was founded in 1961, when Greg Moore was four years old. The team, which was fielded from its shop in Spartanburg, SC, remained a fixture in the NASCAR Cup Series garage until it closed in 2001. The organization racked up two NASCAR Cup Series titles and 63 race wins.

The team also scored the win in the 1978 Daytona 500 with Bobby Allison behind the wheel of the car.

Notable drivers who raced for the team include Bobby Allison, Geoff Bodine, Dale Earnhardt, David Pearson, Ricky Rudd, Darrell Waltrip, and Cale Yarborough.

Bud Moore, Greg’s father, passed away in November 2017 at the age of 92. The elder Moore was inducted into the Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame in 2002, The International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2009, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011.

While Greg Moore served as the Team Manager for Bud Moore Engineering for many years, his father served as the crew chief for the team until the 1989 season.
