A conversation with the authors of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism report that analyzed the reporting and editorial process of the since-retracted Rolling Stone University of Virginia (UVA) sexual violence story, “A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at UVA,” will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall. This is a ticketed event.
Discussants will include the report’s lead investigator Steve Coll, Pulitzer Prize-Winning journalist and dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and Sheila Coronel, academic affairs dean of the Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. Joe Stephens, investigative reporter at The Washington Post and a Ferris Professor of Journalism at the Council of Humanities at Princeton University, will moderate the discussion.
Rolling Stone commissioned the independent report after its story, “A Rape on Campus,” (November 2014) – which depicted a UVA student's gang rape at a campus fraternity house – came under attack as questions surfaced by journalists and The Washington Post regarding the accuracy of the facts and inconsistencies about the assault.
This event is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the Council of Humanities Ferris Seminars in Journalism, and the University Press Club.
Tickets will be available to Princeton University students beginning at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, April 21 at the Frist Campus Center.
Tickets for Princeton University faculty and staff will be available beginning at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, April 23 at the Frist Campus Center.
Any remaining tickets will be available to the general public beginning at 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at the Frist Campus Center. Ticket distribution will continue while supplies last during normal business hours, (M-F 10am-6pm).
For those not able to obtain a ticket, this event will be simulcast in Bowl 016, Robertson Hall.
