Christopher Crawford Obituary

Christopher Bradley Crawford
March 15, 1967 - Jan. 19, 2019
Christopher Bradley Crawford, "Craw", 51, of Beaverton passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Chris passed away from complications associated with a rare form of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a blood cancer.
Chris was born and raised in Beaverton to Middleton (Midd) T. and Betty J. Crawford March 15, 1967. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1985 and went on to play football at Portland State University from 1985 to 1988. During his time at PSU, Chris was a NCAA Division II first-team All-American and help lead the Vikings to two national championship games. Chris had many roles at Nike in his almost 30-years of service and was most recently an executive leading cleated footwear.
Chris was married to Kristen Crawford from 1991 to 2018, and together they had two children, Payton and Carson; Chris' most cherished accomplishment.
Chris is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Payton; and son, Carson Crawford; his brothers, Mark and Denise Crawford and their spouses; his mother, Betty; nine nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews; and countless friends and teammates who were an extension of his family.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Midd; and brother, Randy Crawford.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the Viking Pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the go fund me set-up in Chris' honor by his children as they work to set-up a foundation to remember the way he lived life (www.gofundme.com/press-on-foundation).
The entire Crawford Family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Chris' amazing team of doctors and nurses at OHSU through this journey, specifically Dr. Gabby Myers. #PressOn

Not sure what to say?

We are so sorry for the loss of Chris. We loved coming into the store of Crawford Olson in Hillsboro and visiting with all of you & to hear about all the accomplishments Chris had obtained at either Portland State and later at Nike. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all at this time.

I attended one year at Cedar Park JH and three years at Sunset HS graduating with Chris. I had attended Portland Sylvan schools my entire life when my family moved into the Beaverton school district. It was a tough time and transition for me. Chris had attended school with a girl named Shannon and Lisa Hering who were my schoolmates at West Sylvan. Because of our mutual friends, he went out of his way to get to know me those first days.
I have not stayed in contact with anyone from those days, but was so saddened to learn of his passing when my mom mailed me his obituary asking if I knew him.
He will be remembered kindly. Thoughts and prayers for your family.

Sorry for the loss of your love one, may you find comfort in knowing that those who have passed on in death God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. Psalms 116:15.

I played with Chris in Pop Warner football on an undefeated season, then again two years at Sunset. Undeniably, Chris was a winner everywhere he played, and an absolute leader on and off the field. It was an honor to play with him. He will be missed by all who ever knew him.

I remember the days of playing basketball in our drive ways, football in the front yard and baseball at the park. You were a wonderful friend and neighbor growing up. May God Bless your soul. You will be missed but not forgotten.

They say that you should enjoy the time you have with those you love because you never know when God will want them back. Chris's time here may have been too short but he made a lasting impression and left a huge legacy of giving, caring and loving all those he met up with. Rest in peace Chris, you've earned it. Blessings of strength and courage to his family and friends as they move forward. He will always be with you.

Portland State alumni here. I was a Freshman when Chris was a Senior, didn't know him in college but got to know him when by chance he coached my son's 2nd grade basketball team. We had a great time that season. I'll be there on Feb 1st to honor this great loss to the Portland community.

I went to elementary school with Chris (Grades 1-3) I don't think we ever spoke, but I still remember him all these years later because he was the coolest kid in the school. He had a leather jacket back then just like Fonzie! I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Jennifer Fiske
