We want Sophie's to be a place where one could have a good, hearty meal (comfort food), simple and unpretentious, at a fair price. Our goal is to produce an atmosphere where people can come for lunch, a full dinner, a late snack, a glass of wine or a big cup of coffee and feel comfortable and at home. Our menu is diverse enough for everyone, yet simple enough so the average person will not get overwhelmed with numerous menu choices and complications. Absolute jewel! We were so pleasantly surprised by how amazing this restaurant was. From the outside it just doesn’t look like you would expect in a French bistro. And that’s where we committed the faux pas of judging this book by its cover. The inside is rather unassuming, not in a bad way, but it looks like it could’ve been a bar 1st and bistro 2nd. That’s DEFINITELY not the case. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely amazing. My party of 4 cleaned every appetizer plate, every dinner plate and every dessert plate. I give it as many stars as possible and cannot wait to get back and do it again.

As always the food was excellent. We had vichysoise and escargot as appetizers, softshell crab and paneed pork loin as mains, and the lemon tart and chocolate mousse for dessert. We shared them and would recommend all of these dishes. There’s nothing pretentious about the menu or the ambience. It’s solid French comfort food in a friendly atmosphere. A real gem.

I ordered a pork chop, my wife tilapia, my pork came out almost raw inside after waiting a decent while. I didn’t want to have it re-fired because I cut a chunk into it and with the sauce on it it wouldn’t re cook well. The waitress was extremely kind. What annoyed me the most was after asking for the check and denying any dessert, we were still made to wait 10 minutes for the check. When brought up to the very dismissive manager/bar tender, I was told that it was all the waitresses fault and “I don’t know what else you want me to do” with a stank attitude. I guess he just wanted to get back to the tipping bar crowd. I payed my $100 tab for an anniversary dinner that I didn’t get to eat.

Everything was just ok. I feel like before COVID the food was better. The Brie and Bacon Crepe wasn't balanced well flavor wise. The entrees were good. The service was also good, but it was a bit confusing when we had a new server taking care of us once our dinner entrees were served.

Went there for an anniversary celebration and everything was excellent. The food was amazing, we had escargot appetizers, cassoulet, and a seafood crepe. The service was also top notch. The owner even stopped at our table to check on everything. This was our first time but will definitely not be our last.

My husband is a French citizen and he was very happy with the menu. He had the duck and I had the Vol au Vent - the staff was friendly and attentive. Our only critique was the noise level that made it difficult to hear. But it had a very nice ambiance and the food was stellar

What a wonderful place! We usually go in the evenings, but thought treating ourselves to a great meal prepared by people who love preparing them and served by people who enjoy seeing the pleasure when the food hits the pallet is what we did yesterday. A perfect Cosmopolitan, alongside the best onion soup anywhere with a perfectly prepared Steak Frites is what I had hoped for and that's what I got. My wife wanted a veggie cheese burger and loved it as well. If you are looking for a place to enjoy a truly enjoyable meal, Sophie's Bistro is the place.

Celebrated Father’s Day & thoroughly enjoyed our prix frixe meal! Peter greeted us & checked on us often to make sure that we were happy. We had the escargot, mussels, crab cake, coquille st jacques, berry crumble & coconut cake. C’est magnifique!!

THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS ALWAYS VERY GOOD. WE HAD THE MUSSELS' AS AN APPETIZERS AND THEY WERE VERY GOOD. THE MAIN COURSE WE HA SOFT SHELL CRAB SEASONAL SPECIAL AND THE TUNA EZE. BOTH DISHES WERE VERY GOOD. THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AS USUAL.

The food was quite good, though the “medium-rare” stake was more in the medium-well side. But the place lacks any ambiance, at least when we were there on a Sunday afternoon, and the service was somewhat mediocre (among other things, they kept coming to take away empty plates when it was not warranted). Not sure I’ll go back there.

Although it's been a while since I've enjoyed Sophie's Bistro, I was as enthralled with the outstanding food as I ever have been, and was pleased with the service and kiindness of the staff, some of whom have been there many years (but was disappointed that Peter was not there on this visit!). I have recommended Sophie's to many folks who have said "Do you know a good restaurant nearby/"and have recounted my wonderful meals and the hominess and warmth of the dining room. Eating a meal at Sophie's is like eating a magnificent meal in a friend's kitchen - unbelievably prepared food with the coziness of sitting at the kitchen table with friends or family. I'm looking forward to trying a brunch before my next NJ Symphony - I'm sure I won;t be disappointed!

Classic French but not well executed and with modest quality ingredients. The service quality is inadequate for the price demanded and certainly not worth 20%. People will pay for quality but resent paying for poor quality.

Sophie's Bistro was a wonderful find! A neighborhood gem serving outstanding French inspired dishes, especially the Salmon with mustard sauce, a braised lamb shank and mixed seafood served in puff pastry. The appetizers were also delicious and would recommend the Pizza de Provence and the Petit Fromage fondue. We ordered a bottle of sparkling rose for our graduation celebration and found that the full bottle price was fair. Our server also brought a special dessert of crepes filled with ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce as a special gift to our graduate. Overall, a truly memorable experience. We will definitely be back!
