      Critics Consensus

Although it has its charming moments, Monte Carlo is mostly silly, predictable stuff that never pushes beyond the boundaries of formula.

Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: B Feb 18, 2012 Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) A dull fantasy-farce of luxe hotel suites, hot guys and product-placement jewellery, a pretty unappetising mix that the film tries to justify at the end with some blather about Romanian orphanages. Rated: 1/5 Oct 21, 2011 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard A comprehensive waste of time and money. Rated: 2/5 Oct 21, 2011 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Monte Carlo -- it's as a pretty as a picture. Nov 16, 2019 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk It's all frothy and silly, but Selena Gomez and her co-stars are sweet and appealing and are sure to win over the film's target audience. Mar 12, 2012 Full Review James Plath Movie Metropolis More gum-popping than jaw-dropping, it's the kind of light entertainment that Elvis used to make. Lucero D Tuve más desarrollo yo con mi virtualita que las relaciones de esta película. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Ashley H The only great thing about the movie was Selena Gomez. The story line, I hate to say, was not good. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review Arun S I do have some mixed feelings about this film regarding how the screenplay was constructed but this has been a great comfort film for me. Have seen the film at least 3 times now. Since it has been impossible for me to go to Paris I watch this film to see the sights and sound of the city. Selena was astounding as Grace, her character seemed so nice in face of difficulties in her life. But as Cordelia, I must say that she wasn't exactly up to the mark, and it was a hammy performance. Leighton as Meg was the heart and soul of this film. The bgm and cinematography was perfect. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/25/22 Full Review Sophia S you guys are boring this movie is amazing and it's okay to like it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review steve d Completely rediculous but surprisingly fun. The actors are really solid. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Nim T A cheesy, yet funny rom-com that helped brought back memories of the 2010s where there was the uprising of talents such as Leighton Meester and Selena Gomez. There were charming moments where I can see the lesson of love is filled with sweet and bitterness. The musical arrangement by Michael Giacchino is a highlight that made the film very light and refreshing to watch. With the story being about taking someone else's identity and then the lesson about self-respect and value morals and principles, the film had its moments where the story is not really addressing Monte Carlo except by brief showing of the setting and the mentioning of it a couple times. While it is nice seeing Gomez's character as Grace, I didn't like the Cornelia character as it shows a freakishly pompous girl that doesn't know what to do with her life. It would be uncertain if I would watch this again, but I think it is a film refreshing for a younger audience. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/24/22 Full Review Read all reviews
