Remember Her Name Lyrics
Birds on a wire all fly away
Nobody wanna stand in a hurricane
When everyone else walks away
She'll still remain
When did you lose the girl with no fear?
Oh, she never left
Take a good look
She's right in the mirror
Don't let yourself forget
[Chorus]
Remember the fire, remember her face
She felt the storm and danced out in the pouring rain
Remember hеr laughing through all the pain
Remembеr the girl that didn't let anything get in her way
Remember her name
Remember her name
[Verse 2]
Don't let go of that wide-eyed innocence
Let that wild child run in the wind
Keep that shine that lights up every room
Hold on to it
[Chorus]
Remember the fire, remember her face
She felt the storm and danced out in the pouring rain
Remember her laughing through all the pain
Remember the girl that didn't let anything get in her way
Remember her name
Remember her name
When did you lose the girl with no fear?
Oh, she never left
Take a good look
She's right in the mirror
Don't let yourself forget
[Chorus]
Remember the fire, remember her face
She felt the storm and danced out in the pouring rain
Remember her laughing through all the pain
Remember the girl that didn't let anything get in her way
Remember her name
Remember her name
[Outro]
Remember her name
Remember her name
About
“Remember Her Name” is the feminist and tangentially anti-racist lead single off Mickey Guyton’s debut album. Guyton sings about remembering the strong womyn you’ve been and reclaiming her despite challenging times. This is not Guyton’s first foray into feminism, but it is definitely her strongest and most specific.

I wrote ‘Remember Her Name’ in the pandemic. And I was actually watching what happened with Breonna Taylor. Whenever someone is wrongly murdered, a lot of people say, ‘Say their name. Remember their name.’ So, I was inspired by that. And then, as I was writing the song, it turned into my own story as an artist. When I first started music, I had so much excitement and confidence in myself, and then life happened and I lost every ounce of confidence that I ever had. No matter what life did to you, that person, that fire is still in you, and you have to find that person. And the reason why I called it ‘Remember Her Name’ for the album was because it took me so long to get to this point of releasing my first body of work, ever.
