Editorial Reviews
1972 live album produced by Richard Perry. This was her second live album. It was recorded at a George McGovern campaign fundraiser performance on April 15, 1972 at L.A.'s fabulous Forum. The album went platinum. It includes her big hits "Sweet Inspiration/Where You Lead", "Sing/Make Your Own Kind of Music", "Stony End", "Don't Rain on My Parade", "People" & "My Man". Rolling Stones' Ben Fong-Torres said after the concert " Streisand is a star, and on this night, the star".

This concert is what got Streisand added to Nixon’s historic “enemy list.”
That aside, everything musical aboutthis recording is remarkable. Not only rockingly in step with 1972, but just as appropriate today. The things that Streisand can do with her voice to impact us are also historic and we hear them in everything she’s ever done. But it’s only on this recording that she does them all at once.
Her accompaniment is a Big Band, arranged and conducted by Peter Matz, with an electric bass, rock drummer and driving Steinway piano player who commands the keys. Streisand begins with “On A Clear Day”, wistful and dreamlike that spills into a no-breath power house matched only in intensity by the fast-as-hell kicked up “Don’t Rain On My Parade.” She not only conquers Carole King’s “Where You Lead” but takes it where it’s never been before. Her 4.5 minute monologue of tea and weed is anything but political and, in fact, there’s nothing about this recording that IS political; she doesn’t even do “Happy Days Are Here Again” which she reinvented on her first album.
The original LP came with a large poster of her drawn in pen and ink that’s now a collectors item.
There are many recordins of Streisand that are definitive but to capture the highlight of her first decade, this one is the most exciting.
She puts fresh twists on a few of her vintage numbers (significantly jazzier arrangements are given to "Don't Rain On My Parade" and "My Man"), and even performs a few new ones ("Sing/Make Your Own Kind of Music," Jimmy Webb's "Didn't We"). The signature songs ("People," "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever") are faithfully performed with remarkable candor, and the "Sweet Inspiration/Where You Lead" medley (which was released as a single and became a Top 40 hit) is absolutely sensational.
Unfortunately, some of the problems that plague most live album mildly surface here as well. The show has no real direction or narrative (and therefore lacks momentum) and there are a couple numbers ("Stoney End") that don't translate as well to the live stage. However, these quibbles are minor and don't prevent LIVE CONCERT AT THE FORUM from being an excellent representation of an excellent performance. Another Gold success for Streisand that later achieved Platinum status when issued on compact disc.

Me noqueó.
Make Your Own Kind Of Music".
