It is the first pedestrian-only bridge over Thames. It was nicknamed the Wobbly Bridge because it has no supporting columns and had initial tremors when too many people walked on it at one time. So the bridge was opened then closed, the problem was fixed and it was reopened after two months. It was given the name Millenium Bridge because it was the first bridge built in this Mellenium after a gap of 100 years since a new bridge was constructed over Thames. From this bridge you can have the best view of Saint Paul’s Cathedral. On the other side you can see the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.Visited August 2022Travelled with familyWritten 8 July 2023

It still has the nickname of the Wibbly Wobbly Bridge due to the swaying motion it experienced when first opened, which caused it to be closed for two years for modifications to be made to stabilise the structure. I don't think it will ever loose this name!!Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 31 January 2024

It's a bridge and we crossed it. We crossed it good.
We saw a bit of London, the bit where MPs gather and squabble like five year olds.
It's still a bridge though, don't get your hopes up. Or down. Or across.

We walked across it. Glad we did, but to be honest, it’s nothing amazing. Nice to take a photo back towards St Paul’s as we took a photo from St Paul’s of the bridge.

PROS
* Elegant sleek architecturally unique bridge- outstanding striking pleasing appearance
* New from the year 2000 and in honour of our late Queen, but already a classic important tourist structure
* Very busy and very popular
* Pedestrian only
* Connecting St. Paul's cathedral area with the Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe Theater
CONS
* Busy with people and with runners
* The ramps to get on the bridge go 180 degrees to the bridge and underneath and can be confusing and disorienting
'I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I liked it when I visited in 2016 and absolutely intended to visit and cross it again. And now, I love this bridge- so slick and sleek and shiny- I consider it to be "classic modern."
As you can see in my many attached and "helpful" 👍photos, there are always many people on the bridge, many of whom are runners/joggers.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is free
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
For sure and I intend to do that in the future
ADVICE
* Admire the structure and cross it
* The views are much better when crossing from the south bank of the River Thames, that is from the Tate Modern behind you
* Beware of heavy pedestrian "traffic," especially runners and joggers

Walked across during a trip between the City of London and Southbank. It's pedestrian-only and has nice views of the Thames. It lights up at night and has cool architecture which is nice.

This is a fun bridge across the Thames. It is an interesting design, there are no cars, and you get nice views of the river and the surrounding architecture. The view of St. Paul’s as you cross is particularly striking.

How long does it take to walk from St Paul's Cathedral to Globe Theatre. If I attend St Paul's Evensong which ends at 5:45, then can I make it to the Globe in time for 7:30 play?
Thank you.

It only takes about 5 minutes to cross, taking in the sights as you go, but there are great attractions at either end including St. Paul's, Tate Modern, the Globe and the Golden Hind.
