Kannapolis singer advances to semi-finals on NBC's 'The Voice'

Eight artists were voted through to the live semi-final round; the remaining four performed for one "Instant Save" spot.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The results from the live top 12 performances in this season of NBC's "The Voice" were revealed Tuesday night, and Kannapolis native Josh Sanders continues to make his way through the competition.

Sanders was one of the eight artists chosen by America to advance to the live semi-finals.

Sanders is on Team Reba and performed a rendition of "Angels" by Thomas Rhett during Monday night's show, the first live show of the season.

Viewers were then given a chance to vote for their favorite artists. Eight artists were voted through to the live semi-final round. The remaining four artists performed for an "Instant Save" to get the final spot in the semi-final round.

Goldsboro native Tae Lewis, who is on Team Dan and Shay, earned the 9th spot in the semi-finals with an Instant Save on Tuesday night.

Sanders originally made it onto McEntire's team after performing a rendition of "Whiskey On You" by Nate Smith in the blind auditions. He made it through the battle rounds with a rendition of Luke Combs' "When It Rains It Pours." He covered "Wild as Her" by Corey Kent during the knockouts, and performed "Black Water" by The Doobie Brothers in the playoffs.
