Kimberly Pierce Ticklish Business Shock proves itself to be a fascinating, but slightly frustrating, under-the-radar watch. Price absolutely shines in this early starring role, showing just why his stock continued to rise throughout the 1940s. Rated: 3/5 Apr 21, 2022 Full Review Jack Moffitt Esquire Magazine A vast studio like Twentieth Century-Fox... seldom can afford to experiment. But, when the budget is held down and young blood is called in, it is interesting to note that even so unwieldy an organization can achieve a rather dull imitation of Gaslight. Richard G. R Listed as a film-noir, but I think it's more of a psychological thriller. Just an average flick, nothing more than that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review j f Classic nuthouse/candlestick B Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Jack S A mediocre execution doesn't help with a genuinely intriguing premise here: a doctor treating an incapacitated witness to a murder that he himself has committed. Neither does a generally weak supporting cast. But this one's still made watchable by an outstanding turn from Price, who's convincingly effective as a conflicted killer. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/01/23 Full Review deke p 1946!! VINCENT PRICE, lookin young & nice as psychiatrist, with impulse to murder followed by remorse. Kind of a combination twix GASLIGHT & REAR WINDOW. Rating it if only for PRICE Never heard of before saw on The Movie Channel, 1.20.2022. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review martin a An outstanding horror film, A Doctor in a hotel argues with his wife whom he wishes to divorce, she refuses and a row breaks out, he then hits her over the head, but unknown to him this has all been witnessed by an emotionally fragile woman in a room across the way, whose husband had been reported dead in action, but wasn't. As she waits for him she views the killing and goes into a state of shock. The Doctor is called to the scene and soon realizes that she has witnessed the killing. He takes her into his hospital and tries to convince her she is insane, so no one will believe her story, however, the Doctors nurse lover wants her dead as she stands between them and happiness. Great Film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review stu b A tidy little thriller. Vincent Price stars as a psychiatrist who is called upon to treat the frightened young woman who saw him murder his wife. His choice is clear: do his best to cure her--witnessing the crime has left her in a state of speechless shock, and she has no memory of what the killer looked like (how fortunate for Mr. P.!)--or continue to silence her by plying her with drugs and, if necessary, let her die. Price is very good; Lynn Bari as his cruel, cold-blooded mistress (who is also, conveniently, his chief nurse) is even better. This one's a keeper.
