Hagan Calls For Resignation Of Alabama Pageant President: Report

Former Miss America Mallory Hagan is calling for the resignation of Nan Teninbaum, president of the Miss Alabama pageant.

Former Miss America Mallory Hagan is calling for the resignation of Nan Teninbaum, president of the Miss Alabama pageant. Hagan recently won the Democratic nomination for a U.S. House seat in east Alabama.

The Miss Alabama board of directors wrote in an emailed statement to Al.com late Tuesday that they have no intention of removing Teninbaum.

The 29-year-old Hagan was mentioned in an email leak in December 2017 between former Miss America CEO Sam Haskell and organization board members. The emails were published by Huffington Post. The emails demeaned her physical appearance, questioned her mental health and criticized her alleged personal life. One of the leaked Haskell emails came from Teninbaum.

"Nan did call and apologize. I accepted her apology. This does not mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that I accept her behavior or the board's decision to keep her at the helm of a women's empowerment program," Hagan wrote in a Facebook post.

Hagan began a campaign last year for new leadership within the Miss America Organization. The pageant appointed Gretchen Carlson as the chair of the Miss America Organization in January. The former Fox News anchor brought allegations of sexual assault against Roger Ailes, who resigned in July 2016.
