About Us

In 1971, 23-year-old blues fan Bruce Iglauer spent his meager savings to record and release a record by his favorite Chicago blues band, Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockers. The new album needed a record label, so he created Alligator Records to release one LP. Today, Alligator boasts a catalog of over 350 titles, many of which are renowned, classics of the genre. Career-defining albums from legendary artists like Hound Dog Taylor, Koko Taylor, Son Seals, Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, Professor Longhair, Lonnie Brooks, Luther Allison and Michael “Iron Man” Burks share the catalog with releases from current blues and roots icons Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Guitar Shorty, Billy Boy Arnold and Mavis Staples.

Product description

NEW Combo BLUWAVS CD and FLAC FILE

Review

The Union Bar in Minneapolis was a frigid zone for four nights in March 1981. Collins dignifies the proceedings by stating that it am t nothin' but the blues." Johnny B. Gayden's funky bass broadens the definition. There's stronger material and playing here than on his Live in Japan (see below).(38:36/Reissue) -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 -- From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD

I love the telecaster, and AC really rips it up here. You can just feel AC's emotion with each screaming note. It's nice to hear a recording that isn't so polished, but beautifully spontaneous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vive Albert Collins !

Reed. À compléter avec "Live in Japan" (1984).

5.0 out of 5 stars Albert
Reviewed in Japan on March 28, 2002
J.B.Gayden(Ba),C.Jones(Dr)という鉄壁のリズム隊をバックに'cool sound'が展開される。

4.0 out of 5 stars Albert Collins cools the air around the stereo when i play this disc he was indeed FROZEN ALIVE.
Reviewed in Canada on December 21, 2017
If i have one criticism of this disc it is that it simply is not long enough. It is not that the disc is overly short in duration it is that the amount of music within the disc is just long enough to get you into a great Blues Groove and then it is over, leaving you wanting much more. As i sit here writing this review i am left thinking that an Albert Collins Boxset would be an awesome thing to see. lately i have seen ( and purchased ) some great blues Boxsets but i have never seen one on the music of the Snowman ( Albert Collins ). This particular disc was produced on Alligator records which is a predominantly Blues label and it is treated very well indeed. I would have enjoyed having more tracks to the disc but what there is of this CD is remarkably good, well worth the money spent in the purchase.
