Princess Augusta of Hesse-Kassel, Duchess of Cambridge (German: Auguste Wilhelmine Luise von Hessen-Kassel) was the wife of Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge, the tenth-born child and seventh son of King George III of the United Kingdom and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge returned to Great Britain where they lived at Cambridge Cottage, Kew, and later at St James's Palace.
The Duchess of Cambridge survived her husband by thirty-nine years, dying at the age of ninety-one. Queen Victoria wrote of her aunt's death "Very sad, though not for her. But she is the last of her generation and I have no longer anyone above me."
She was buried in St Anne's Church, Kew. Her remains were later transferred to St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
The longest-lived daughter-in-law of King George III, she was the maternal grandmother of Princess Victoria Mary of Teck, later Queen Mary, wife and Queen Consort of King George V.
She was the 2 x great-grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II, the 3 x great-grandmother of King Charles III and the 4 x great-grandmother of Prince William, Prince of Wales.
She was not the mother of Louisa Wilhelmina Brandt (1826-1903) and the profiles are not to be connected.
