preview for Podcaster Jenny Hutt on Maintaining a 100-Pound Weight Loss

It’s a time of reckoning when it comes to our understanding of obesity. What was long seen as an issue of willpower is starting to be recognized for what it truly is: a medical disease. As part of our ongoing conversation around weight, Adam Glassman, Oprah Daily’s creative director, sat down with someone who knows firsthand what it is to feel shame associated with the size of your body. Jenny Hutt, a lawyer, entrepreneur, and host of the podcast Just Jenny with Jenny Hutt, lost about 100 pounds—and has maintained that loss for a decade.

Hutt actually appeared on the cover of O, The Oprah Magazine back in 2016 as part of a series where women talked about their journeys with weight. In the story, Hutt and others—including Oprah herself—posed in black unitards and shared their ups and downs. Now she’s back, discussing obesity as a medical condition, explaining how she views eating and exercise, and the emotional impact weight loss can have. Watch her conversation with Glassman above, then check out our entire related curriculum, The State of Weight, here.
