73% Tomatometer 11 Reviews 84% Audience Score 50+ Ratings When charismatic Danny Desai returns to his hometown after spending five years in juvenile detention, he sees that things are no longer as he remembered them. His mother's socialite status has plummeted due to his incarceration, and his childhood friends Jo and Lacey have grown apart and are at opposite ends of the social spectrum. Lacey is popular and dating the captain of the soccer team, while Jo struggles to put the trauma of the past behind her. Jo wants to give Danny a second chance, but when she asks for answers about the motive behind his crime, he won't -- or can't -- reveal the information. When a fellow student is found dead in her home, the town spins into a frenzy of suspicion and mystery -- with Danny as prime suspect. Jo and Lacey must decide if their childhood friend is guilty or just a victim being persecuted for his twisted secrets. Read More Read Less

      Critics Consensus

Twisted might offer below-average dialogue in terms of moody teen faire, but a compelling cast makes the grade.

Carrie Raisler AV Club Despite any concerns about the mystery's long-term viability, there is enough good here to recommend sticking with Twisted to see how it develops. Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Mary McNamara Los Angeles Times There is something queasy, but also ingenious about tagging the "hero" with such a blatant past. Jan 24, 2019 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News "Twisted" is already percolating with high-school-style drama when, oops, someone turns up dead. Nothing like a still-warm corpse to put the stress of a science quiz into perspective. Jan 24, 2019 Full Review Kari Croop Common Sense Media Twisted has the potential to snare fans of teen-centric thrillers like Pretty Little Liars. But dialogue that's average at best -- coupled with a few far-from-gripping performances...make this moody mystery so-so rather than stellar. Rated: 3/5 Jan 24, 2019 Full Review Lily Sparks TV.com It has a phenomenal -- honestly, phenomenal cast. Great production values...Unfortunately the writers' room is determined to kill all suspense, which is strange considering suspense is possibly the most crucial element in a weekly mystery-thriller. Jan 24, 2019 Full Review Billy Nilles Zap2it.com I'm more interested in how shaken Jo and Lacey have become by Danny's return. The way these two girls, whose relationship disintegrated in the aftermath of their childhood trauma, have been forced back together is fascinating. Jun 11, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I decided to start this show about a week ago on Netflix. A very bad decision upon hindsight because I found out a few days ago that it was cancelled after the first season and I'm so hooked I can't see to tear myself away from it. The mystery is truely intriguing, and the lead character is so freaking likable I find myself wondering at every opportunity if I like him because his sociopathic behavior makes me like him or if he's truly a good guy. The mystery is intriguing, the love triangle breaks my heart because I love both Jo and Lacey, it's just a great show. Sadly, I'll never have my questions answered because ths show was cancelled after one season and I'm seriously considering writing to the writer or something Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't believe the high ratings people are giving this show. The dialog is so unrealistic and forced. If you have ever met a high school student you know that this is not how they communicate. High school students do not talk to each other like 35 year old adults about 35 year old type subject matter. Not only that, but the premise is weak on so many levels, even down to soccer being as popular as it is on the show. Show me the high school where soccer is that cool in the U.S. I'm told that its a "chick show" so perhaps its mostly women rating it. I can't stand the serious music that accompanies all of the dialog either. Also, seeing Denise Richard's "Skeletor with huge lips" look is depressing. She used to be gorgeous. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Twisted is a great show it is very interesting and thrilling I love it I can't wait for it to start in February. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Section 1: Twisted gives us a hole of a lot of twist and turns, shocking surprises, and lot more. I'm raving that Season 1 of Twisted is outstanding. Plus it will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next!!!
