Great music, but cheap packaging

Great music, but cheap packaging
The music is great, but the packaging is junk. I've posted some pictures so you can see what I am talking about. The CD's came in flimsy plastic bags that don't want to go back in the sleeves. Also, the gatefold sleeves are coming unglued. I did not buy my copy from Amazon, so I would like to get comments from other purchasers to see if you have the same impression.

These were increadible shows and I love that one of the nights they brought the family’s out to play as well! It was such a memorable experience captured on CD and is worth every penny for so much music!

I’ve been listening to the Allman Brothers Band since the 1970’s. Unfortunately Duane Allman and the bass player tragically died in motorcycle accidents. I didn’t know how successfully the band had replaced dead members with high quality musicians. This band features Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks on lead guitars. Greg Allman plays keyboards and lead vocals. The whole band is delightful. I just love it.

This box set is worth the money. I attended these shows and can tell you the energy of each performance is captured in the recordings. Extended jams such as Same Thing with guest appearances make this box set a good buy. People say buy the Mp3s and save money. The box set is not Mp3 quality. The box set is CD quality and yes it makes a difference in sound quality. Remember, the Allmans Brothers Band has multiple instruments playing at the same time. The CD quality prevents mudding the sound at higher volume.

Does the audience have to figure so prominently in the mix? It is as if they supplied wireless mics to a dozen or so people and had them fan out to locate the drunkest people in attendance at The Fox each evening. And if the incessant whistling, hootin' and hollerin' weren't enough, the din of indiscriminate banter picked up by the audience microphones during slower or quieter passages during the band's performances is a testament to all that's wrong with concerts these days: Everyone, please refrain from holding mundane conversations while the band is performing. Seriously, when listening to these shows, it sounds at times like the shows were recorded at a cocktail reception at the downtown Marriott, not The Fox Theatre. In fact, during one softer guitar solo by Warren, I am pretty sure I heard some folks arranging pick up times for a Little League carpool. That said, the performances themselves are great. Having seen one of their final Beacon shows in NYC, I will truly miss seeing this band live.

Incendiary, anointed, exquisite playing from the band that is closest to my heart. This last iteration of the brothers peaked hard during this run. Was it really that great? Yes, really.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I agree this is way over priced but I am still happy I bought the box set. The sound quality is excellent, not sure if you know this in the downloads but they say Warren is one speaker and Derrick is the other speaker so you know which guy is taking the lead. Plus, I'm old and still like CDs and it is so easy and pleasant to listen to in my car.

I agree that it is a little overpriced, however it is a much better mix than the original Fox Box that was released by HITTINTHENOTE back in 2004. The sound is clearer and the package itself is more condensed than the previous version and alot of the "dead space" between songs has been mixed out which I am happy for. I own the original box set but I still bought this because I am a huge fan and a collector

I can listen to The Allman Brothers for hours. And I do. This set is among the best live albums I have, and I have a few of them. This long version of In Memory of Elisabeth Reid is just awesome!! Three separate concerts in one box set. These discs will be well worn by the time I'm done.

Not a high level recording, but the skill of the musicians and the original performances deserves 4 stars. Epic 34 minutes of "In memory of Elisabeth Reed".
Nice set of 8 discs live 2004 GA.

After reading the first reviews of this box set I too was hesitant to purchase it because of cost ($118 in Canada).
However with the passing of Gregg Allman the purchase price became irrelevant. As a long time fan it's like the second coming of "Live at Fillmore East" for me.I love the guitar duo of Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks.
I would recommend this package to anyone who is an Allman Brothers fan,you will not be disappointed!

8 CD. Poi, una serie di classici a go-go: da Layla ( Clapton) a 44 Blues, Hoochie Coochie Man, Stormy Monday, Elizabeth Reed, Key To The Highway, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down ( The Band), I Walk on Gilded Splinters ( Dr. John ), Blue Sky e moltissime altre. Oltre a Pearson, appaiono come ospiti Rob Barraco, Susan Tedeschi, Vaylor Trucks. Qualità audio eccellente. Il box è stato pubblicato sulla etichetta della band sudista
