Old news for the 12 people who care, but Fuga Melodies Of Steel has sold 150.000 digital copies by 21 fev 2023.
Not amazing number but if you do math to get an approximate value of the game made by the game and reduce an little to consider sales, the game has not only recover its production cost but also turn out to be profitable in the middle term, which is kinda good news for the Little Tail Bronx series even if remains the niche of the nichest series.
I really hope it'll sell more. This is the first game I play of the series and I really like the gameplay.
The musics are also very good. Flowers on the trails is great. My favorite though is elegy of winds. The first time I heard it, especially after that scene, I'm hooked
Story may not be very deep, but it made me really attached with the cast. Especially after watching the light hearted shortskit on YouTube. Though I think those skits should have been included on the game too
I hope this game will gain traction and I'm really excited for the sequel
The good thing is that Microsoft also made a deal with them for game pass so they did get paid for the addition to the service while also getting new players across xbox, pc and cloud. The same is the case with Fuga 2 which means together with the launch sales they likely can cover production costs fast and also make profit much earlier from it which they can then use for the development of the third entry.
It is a shame is sold so poorly for how amazing the game is. I think a lot of people are put off by the anthro character designs. To be honest, I was too, but I actually really warmed up to them by the end. I encourage any fan of turnbased combat give this game a shot. It has a demo that is the first 3 chapters of the game so maybe check that out before you buy.
Yep, I liked the look of the game - but didn't like the look of the characters personally.
So I ended up not purchasing it.
It is on my wishlist though, so I might buy it in the future.
A lot of indie games sell much worse. And it apparently still made decent money. So nothing really to be upset about there.
I think more people are put off by its lack of marketing. This game seems buried deep underground. I wouldn't have known about it if I wasn't the type to be glued to sites like Gematsu and Siliconera.
For me it's the price of such a short game.
You can thank furries for that. It absolutely is the reason I'll never play that game.
Didn't bother me at all. It was just the lack of exploration or being completely confined to my tank that turned me away. Combat, story scene, inside the tank rooms, repeat.
100% a few bad actors ruin the pack
That's me, I'm one of those absolutely put off by the art style. Nothing against it, just that the "furry like" art style makes me uncomfortable.
Then again I was put off by One Piece's art style and later I realized my ignorance, so I'm waiting for a sale/motivation to pick it up and give the game a fair chance.
Thats nice to hear. Thank you.
Its my favorite Video game and I am glad it gets a sequel.
I dont think it will ever be big or popular but I am fine with that. But its nice to hear they turned a little profit.
I dont know if its true but I heard they plan to make it a trilogy.
If that is there plan I hope they see it through.
I think they will see it through. They got Naruto money to fund this. Even after the first one was declared unprofitable they kept going. They have passion and cash cow franchises to pump in funding.
I was initially put off by how "cheap" it looked compared to Solatorobo, but the combat is actually really good. I'll be one of the three people playing Fuga 2 when it launches alongside Tears of the Kingdom.
That's good news.
There was clearly a lot of effort and care put in the first game. It hope second one somehow finds more mainstream popularity.
Some day I will play this!
I really wanted to play it but I'm already struggling to empty my list of games :'( maybe when I move out and get more free time.
Love love this game
Its crazy how this game was heartwarming and gut wrenching at the same time
Plus this game had no business to have a soundtrack that good. I still listen to it for some good relaxing tunes
Not for me, but happy to see the game do well.
I’m hoping positive word of mouth makes the sequel sell better. Glowing reviews and fan reception I pray push 2 forward
So I recently watched a video about the DS game in this "series" (shared universe?) And I really want to try it.
I'm going to buy it when it goes on sale but it seems like a fantastic title
This is literally the first time I've heard of this game. I'll keep an eye on it, I'm finally finishing my backlog/ditching some games
The game was so good, shame it didn't sell well. I will get the sequel on day 1.
I would love a dual pack physical
The lack of physical release is what stopped me from buying it. I used to go to their Montréal office for "5 à 7" when they we're still développons the first one and Working to fix Dragon Ball. It's a shame really.
It flopped hard, by their own admission
A flop is only a flop until it's not. Doesn't matter what the reason behind it, it eventually sold a lot more than they expected and they turned a profit, so it ended up not being a flop, also by their own admission
In initial sales. I suspect a big portion of these sales came well after release as 150k is an ok amount of sales for a game like this (so would not have been considered a flop).
Their own admission flop was made in december 2021 an accounted for the first 3 month sales, the game didn't stop selling after that.
A shame it's furshit. And of course of the weird variety, with potty training toilets randomly appearing around the tank interiors and characters being implied to relief themselves if you interact with them, while a cheerful music plays. Like, why?
Calling the game furshit is quite a reductive statement, almost the same as people calling jrpg weebshit.
I havent come across a toilet yet but from what I heard but I know they are a thing, and from what I get they are there mostly for comedy sake than for anything sexual, kinda like in FF IX there is a scene that implies Zidane and Vivi are peeing in public.
