All kinds of harassment goes on all the time, in a lot of departments. Specially administration, president, etc.

The higher positions harrass the lowers positions, and when you report to title IX they get rid of you. Since they have money the buy pretty much everyone...

Pros

No a pros

Cons

All kinds of Harassment, Racism, Discrimination, Retaliation, etc

love helping students

Enjoyed working at Harbor loved my work and department. Small community of people that work together and are there to help you. The Financial Aid office is a high volume office and the organization and management made the flow of students coming in and out easy and efficient.

Great schedule, horrible pay

I enjoyed the schedule at the college. Saturday morning till afternoon. I had a chance to relax and enjoy my time. The pay never evolved. It remained the same for my duration at the school.

Excellent place to work. Amazing environment filled with awesome and talented individuals.

LAHC is a place where one can grow and experience a number of challenges that will only build one up. The departments are ran by professional individuals.

Productive workplace! I spent over 33 years on the campus, in various capacities!

As a part-time program coordiator, I learned continued managing the oldest Program for Accelerated College Education (transfer program) west of the Mississippi River! This involved budgeting, supervision, scheduling courses, and counseling students on transfer requirements for 4-year institutions. I also taught 2 classes per semester--critical thinking and ethics. The most enjoyable part of the job was helping students, and the most difficult part of the job involved campus "politics."

Pros

The opportunity to teach!

Cons

Limitations as a coordinator, compared to the wide-range responsibilities and powers as a director!

Fun and relaxing work environment, tutoring students in all subject areas

I really enjoyed being a tutor at Los Angeles Harbor College. I was able to help students in mathematics and that was a great feeling. I also enjoyed my coworker, they were cooperative and friendly. The hardest part of the job was when students were not understanding the material, even though I was explaining it well.

Pros

flexible hours

Good management, good co-workers, easy to do, fun

I got this job after recently quitting at restaurant, and the difference in the stress was incomparable. My first week fell like a breeze because of how relaxed everything was. The hours are very flexible and the pay is just above minimum wage depending. Management was awesome at everything and could help when things got stressful. Also, management helped by trying to fill your schedule if you wanted more hours. Almost all of my co-workers or friends of mine now. Everyone was willing to help everyone and we were always in good moods. Students were also very kind and attentive on a consistent basis. Everyday had its typical rush hours but they worked too bad to handle. I would still work there if I did not transfer schools.

Pros

Everything

Cons

Poor School administrators, but they don't really interfere with your job

This job was purely temporary, as it was supplied to me via a Federal Work Study program. It was rewarding to help others succeed at school at my position; seeing and meeting new students and people who wanted to better their lives became a great thing to look forward to.

Happy Harbor, Great place for students to get their foot hold into academia.

A typical day at LAHC is filled with many projects. My time here has allowed me to learn much and more about project management and working with student populations. The hardest part of the job, working as a student is no access to benefits or job security. The most enjoyable part of this job is the responsibility that is given to student workers, which allows for lots of on the job learning experiences.

Pros

Flexible hours, great learning environment

Cons

No benefits, no job security, 1000 hour limitiation for "unclassified employees" (student workers).
