Dating back to 1958, Tianjin Conservatory of Music(TJCM) was founded as one the nine Conservatories in China. Since its founding, TJCM has maintained its commitment to providing the high caliber of artistic education to young potentials in music, dance and drama. TJCM steadily grew in its size and reputation, ultimately becoming an accredited multifaceted Conservatory that offered undergraduate studies, graduate studies, affiliated middle school education and continuing studies that are open to all ages and abilities.

Through the endeavors of TJCM's generations, the original vision of TJCM dedicated to being a practical music educator, a talent magnet, a traditional Chinese cultural renovator and an open-school policy practitioner, has always been vital and vigorous.

TJCM attaches particular importance to broadening education of students within the context of the campus and promoting the musical enrichment to the greater musical community.

Within the campus, a series of academic events initiated by TJCM are notably the best evidence for our open-school policy: the "May Festival" series, "Tianjin International Accordion Festival and International Accordion Competition", "Tianjin International Contemporary Music Festival and Youth Composition Exchange", "National Bartok Symposium", "Thousand Talents Plan Spring-and-Summer Academic Season", "Sino-US Musicals Workshop", among others.

Out of the campus, TJCM enables its young musicians to enjoy more performance opportunities in broader stages. In 2017, TJCM Youth Symphony Orchestra toured in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and participated  in "34th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival".

Throughout its history, the milestone of TJCM was made when our First Lady, Peng Liyuan, on September 28 2015, witnessed the inauguration ceremony of TJCM Juilliard Graduate School in New York, a joint project with the Juilliard School.
