Many travelers find the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center to be overpriced, citing costly food and parking that don't seem to line up with the value. Despite its mixed reviews on service, which is often seen as disorganized, guests consistently enjoy the array of amenities, though some are put off by the extra charges. While the hotel's location earns praise for event proximity, the inconvenience of the check-in process and distance from downtown are drawbacks. Rooms are commonly viewed as basic and in need of updates, yet the festive and lush atmosphere of the hotel, particularly during holidays, is a highlight for visitors.

Spent 2 nights at the resort so our granddaughters could enjoy Soundwaves water park. We were a little leery about making the trip but after reading some reviews and talking with the hotel about their Covid-procedures we decided to make the trip. We have stayed at the hotel a couple of times in the past and was familiar with food choices and the rather high cost ($32.00/night) to park. The water park was the main draw and the only way to use it is to be a guest at the hotel. We knew ahead of time that there wouldn't be a lot of food options (which wasn't too bad since it's incredibly expensive to dine there anyway). It would have been nice to have the Starbucks open and breakfast options are limited. We chose to eat at Opry Mills since there were a lot more food options. Very few shops were open and services are limited. Registration took a little longer than normal because of the distancing that is in place. I have to admit, it's sometimes a struggle to understand what staff is staying due to the masks they wear but all the employees at the hotel are very accommodating and extremely pleasant to deal with. We took the Delta Riverboat cruise and our granddaughters enjoyed it. Not sure it was worth the price we paid for 15 minutes but the employees working there made it a very enjoyable experience. The Soundwaves experience was well worth what we paid. It was very well maintained, the staff was very conscientious about cleaning and we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. It offers a lot of different things to do and as a guest you can take advantage of the facility from the day you check in until the day you check out. We decided to rent a cabana and it ended up being a wise decision and worth the extra money. Ordering food was very pricey and the menu is somewhat limited. I had read some reviews saying the hotel wasn't clean but the only issue we had with cleanliness is the tub in our room wasn't as clean as it should have been. The hotel had staff continually sanitizing and there is staff at every location in the hotel passing out masks and doing a good job of reminding people masks were required. Even though it was a pricey weekend trip we are glad we went.

We went to celebrate my 50th birthday. I wanted to get a way from all of this "covid" stuff and walked right into it. That aside, I will leave my review below.

The property was absolutely beautiful and well-maintained. That can not be taken away. Under normal circumstances, you could spend the entire time without having to leave at all for anything. That point is noted and appreciated.

$32 per day to park is a bit excessive, in my opinion, given the price of the lodging. If you plan on staying and never leaving during your stay, I would strongly suggest finding transportation to the property. We flew in and took time to sight see around Nashville, so, we needed a car for that. However, $32 was a bit much.

At the time of booking, I was made to feel that I had no other option but to purchase the Sound Waves package for our entire 3 day stay. THAT IS NOT TRUE!! You can purchase day passes as hotel guests! Non hotel guests, were purchasing day passes our entire stay. There never seemed to be an "at capacity limit". This is where the hotel was deceitful. We did not spend much time at Sound Waves. There was not much excitement to it for the cost. I would recommend that you ask for a full breakdown of the cost of purchasing when registering versus when you get there. Don't buy into the "you may not be able to get a pass when you arrive". There didn't seem to be a problem and there were a lot of people there each day.

For all the additional fees and costs of staying there, housekeeping should not be limited. I ordinarily don't like housekeeping to enter my rooms when I stay anywhere, so, that wasn't a real problem for me. However, given how much it costs to stay here, there should NOT have been a restriction on having your room clean.

Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay. We would stay again. I went to relax and have fun and that was accomplished. Spent money is spent money. There is no need to really cry about it now.

My daughter and I booked our stay July 6th-10th at the Gaylord Opryland Resort. We came thoroughly prepared to disinfect and sanitize any area that we encountered. We also paid for parking at the rate of 32.00 per day. Our initial plan was to dine at the resort in many of the advertised restaurants, utilize Sound waves and generally stay isolated in the facility. We were surprised to find almost all restaurants closed, shops on very limited hours, no room service at all, except towels on request, 2 bottles of water provided daily, but be warned, on request. For this, we paid the usual rate, and upon checkout, we're informed that we could have checked through our phones to determine the restaurants that were open. Not even Starbucks. We asked for a reduction in parking fees or the 20.00 resort fee, but that was declined. We are sympathetic to the havoc that covid has caused in many businesses, but since Gaylord could not be upfront about limited services and expected experiences, we were left with a bad taste in our mouths.
That being said, if this resort can resume at normal operation with advertised amenities, I cannot say enough about the sheer beauty, fountain shows every night and the staff at Sound waves. If you prefer a skeletal crew and don't mind leaving the premises for most meals, long lines at the very few eating establishments, at the usual price, then this is the time to reserve. I do want to mention that we were offered an upgrade to a room on the atrium, for which we are grateful, but this is an easy adjustment for the Gaylord, as the amount of guests are minimal. I have written written this review in hopes that future reservations are made with full awareness that there are definite limits to enjoying the Gaylord at this time.

I do not know where to begin. Checking in at 4:45 we went up to the room to find chips crushed up on the bathroom floor and big whole in the comforter cover and broken telephone. After using our cell phone to call the hotel and speaking with the manager she assured us the room would be cleaned and phone fixed while we were out for dinner. Upon returning a few hours later there was still chips on the floor and a broken telephone. After calling and speakibg with the front desk we were told we would be moved to an atrium room that was spotless. We loaded the suitcases and moved to the next room. upon arrival there was a trail of food. How was the checked by a supervisor and "spotless" we were told to wait and the manager would come to see us. After 20
minutes we recieved a call that the manager was busy and we would recieve a call from the house keeper in the morning. It was now 10:40 in the evening and my 6 year old was husterical that she doesnt want to stay in a unsafe hotel. I went down to the front desk and asked to speakwith a manager. This time I went to check the room with her and called my elder mother and children to let then know we are moving again. It is now after 11 in the evening and this began at 5:00 in the afternoon.
You would think that during a pandemic when people are worried there would be extra cleaning measures in place.

The Opryland resort itself is designed beautifully. However, all the little extras you pay for wind up bilking you out of every last penny, even though you pay a fair amount just to stay here. Parking is $32/day--even if you're a guest at the hotel, which significantly increases the cost of your stay. The restaurants on site are okay but they provide small portions and charge upscale prices. There was no housekeeping during our stay which meant no fresh towels, fresh beds, or replaced items that we used. The toilet in our room had a bad handle and constantly ran and the stopper in the tub continually malfunctioned and caused water to begin filling the tub during our showers. To top our visit off, when we got to our car on the morning we checked out someone had broken into our car by bashing in the passenger side window. As we looked around we could see numerous other vehicles were hit, too (I counted three others and someone I met in the lot said they counted 10 other cars that were broken into). I was astonished that they charge so much for parking in their lot and yet their security was unable to adequately monitor the vehicles. They have numerous signs throughout the lot saying they are not responsible for damage to vehicles...yeah right. I would have given this stay a 1-star, however, the hotel manager did quite a bit to make up for the whole ordeal with our car. I felt that his earnest desire to try to compensate us was worth an additional star. All in all we would not stay here again. Our kids had a great time but it was a nightmare for us.

This hotel was the final stop in our musical roadtrip New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville. I thought I'd splurge and make the last stop special for new year 29 dec -2 jan. I'm ashamed at what I've paid for two rooms for 4 nights for family five.
After an exhausting 4 hr journey in hazardous storm we arrived 3:30pm to an horrendous queue which took 1 hr before 1 room was allocated. A text for 2nd room never came so after 2 hrs waiting in limbo the front desk closed and still no key.
It's the worst checkin experience I've ever had and to be honest no member of staff cares about your experience. I felt like guests were treated like herds of cattle to be moved asap. All very impersonal.

I never ate in the resort due to lengthy queues and closed restaurants. I never sat at a table with a drink enjoying ambiance because no tables.

The videos they play online, in room tv or on reception screens show an experience that is so far removed from reality it should be advertising mis selling. It's very mis leading and as a guest I've feel I've been exploited by the resort.

The resort had no special treatment for guests. The problem is huge number of day visitors come and use facilities you have paid a premium to access. This was beautifully shown on new years eve when we arrived back at the hotel after an Opry show to see swarms of day guests leaving after enjoying new years eve in the gaylord for free.
Soundwaves is 60 dollars plus tax each and must be pre booked. Again guests have no special privilege over day guests who can also book.
There is no control of visitor numbers here. Even without day guests the hotel guests are not cateted for with closed restaurants. Some just open for evenings. Or some just fir breakfast. This results in barriers preventing tables at closed restaurants being used by weary guest who have no where to sit, rest etc.

Caution: resort fee $20 per room per day apply. Plus $200 each room taken on credit card at checkin for incidental which is ridiculous considering how impossible it was to use any facilities.

Management, I did raise these issues twice at your desk. You had the opportunity to deal with this while I was a guest. Your staff simply said "we know, it's because its busy" . Shame on you for offering a sub standard experience at premium prices. An awful guest experience which I will take up with my british airways who booked me in this resort. I only hope that anyone reading this review will be fully aware of what they will get.
No reflection on Nashville which was fabulous.

Hello-- We do apologize for the check-in experience. Our resort is open to the public for many things--however, only guests of the hotel are able to make reservations at our full-service restaurants and SoundWaves, our four-acre waterpark is ABSOLUTELY only available to guests of the hotel, with priority given to those who purchase ticket packages. The resort fee you reference includes a resort savings card, pool, health club, fitness access, in-room enhanced high-speed Internet access, bottled water in rooms, and other amenities. It is advertised on our website, on the confirmation email when you book, and it is detailed on your keycard package when you check in. These items are not available to outside visitors. We are sorry that you experienced us at our busiest time of the year, and we hope that we are able to make a better lasting impression on you in the future. Thanks, Tim S. Customer Care Specialist

Like a lot of other families, we haven't traveled since pre-pandemic, so when we wanted to get away without 'getting away' we decided to book at Opryland. We only live 20 minutes away so this was very much a Staycation. We actually got a discounted rate because we're locals, so that was great. I don't have any complaints about our stay in the hotel. Staff was friendly and diligent about making sure guests were wearing their masks correctly and keeping everything clean.

Several of the fancier restaurants were still closed (we visited during the week so that may be different on weekends) but we did enjoy our dinner at Cascades American Cafe. The tables were spaced out and we felt comfortable eating there especially since it's open to the entire atrium. Food was great.

We didn't notice a lot of people just walking around and looking at the shops. It was a nice change because usually the place is packed, especially during the summer. We had a chance to walk at our own pace and look at everything without crowds.

We did book the waterpark package.... and this is where I have a problem. I know what people reading this must be thinking...
What did you expect going to a waterpark during the middle of a pandemic?
I was under the impression that the amount of guests going into the waterpark would be limited considering you don't wear a mask inside.. and I know they only allow so many wristbands to be purchased/added on per day so I thought it would be fine. Surely the amount of people allowed in would be lower than usual?

WELL, when we arrived it was like pre-pandemic times. I thought maybe we had time traveled..
People everywhere. Zero attempts to socially distance from others. The amount of loungers and seats/tables hadn't changed... everyone was practically sitting on top of each other. There is an outdoor area that we would have liked to enjoy, but when we walked outside there were a ton of people out there as well standing in long lines for waterslides, etc. Maybe it would be more enjoyable during the 'off season' when there's likely less people, but we only stayed for 30 minutes because it got to the point where we started to feel unsafe.

Overall, I would 100% stay at Opryland again for the hotel experience, but I will not be returning to the waterpark anytime soon.

This hotel is unlike any we have ever visited. From the great service and smiling faces at check in, to the awe of the glass covered atriums, Gaylord Opryland is the largest hotel in the United States that isn’t connected to a casino.

First, the good: The service and employees were great. Each of the three large atriums have a different theme, is climate controlled, and provide a romantic atmosphere that I have yet to experience at another location. With the live plants and trees, water features around every corner, and the natural feeling breeze, you can easily forget that you are actually indoors. Plus, there are several restaurants on location that offer varying menus to fit different tastes.

Now the not so good: I understand the many employers are having a hard time filling positions, and this has affected how they do things since COVID. For instance, housekeeping is only available upon request during your stay. So if you want your bed made or your trash emptied, you have to request it. No problem there. My biggest issue though started with a used Q-tip that we found on the floor in front of our room door. We kicked it to the middle of the hall and figured it was simply overlooked, no biggy. However, this dirty little trinket remained in the same spot through the duration of our stay, sparking my OCD and leading me to start looking for other short cuts the housekeeping staff were taking. After all, we had seen housekeepers on the floor cleaning.

It was then that I began to notice the amount of dust that had collected on the pictures, the bathroom vent, and the counter itself. The shower had gunk that had built up in the corner, and there was long hair that we found in and around the bathroom. While I don’t mind spending $500 a night for a pleasant getaway, I do tend to hold the more expensive places to a higher standard of service, especially when it comes to cleanliness. This ultimately lead to the three star rating.

Beyond that, the overall experience was great. I would definitely plan a visit again, but hopefully COVID and all the chaos it has created will be over and housekeeping will be more detailed in their cleaning.

Attended a convention that was held at the Gaylord. For purposes of this trip, it was good. Though I'm not sure I would stay there otherwise.

Check in was fairly fast. I was put in the D towers. Carry a map when you first are getting to know this place because getting from Tower to Tower through the atrium's can can be confusing. Once you have it down though it's not too difficult.

Room was ok. Decent finishes though the shower was a little tough to figure out. More TV choices than most hotels with HBO go included. Note to property: I had an outside facing room (the others face in toward the atrium). At around 6AM every morning they start cleaning their entrances and driveways. If you are a light sleeper this will wake you. Incredibly annoying. Not sure what the interior facing rooms are like but I wish I had tried. Didn't get to sleep past 7 the entire time there.

If you want to spend significant time on Broadway (their main strip) this is not the place for you. It's about 20 minutes away and the hotel charges for shuttles. $20 will get you an uber down there but to get back...wow..that's where they get you. Up to 50 bucks to get back but the hotel shuttles end at 10:30PM (I believe) so if you're out any later than that you're going to pay the 50 spot. If you have no desire to go see the bar area the Gaylord has everything you need under one roof.

All in all it was a nice hotel but unless I was there for a convention specific to that hotel I wouldn't stay there again. Just me but I like to be closer to the sights and sounds of Nashville.

Overall our stay (Dec 18-20, 2020) was okay but it was not the cleanest Gaylord we've stayed in. Considering Covid 19 and the website stressing the extra mile that the staff was going to keep things as clean as possible there were several areas that didn't meet our expectations regardless of Covid 19 or not.

The first day we were there we ate in the Delta Marketplace for breakfast and the common tables were filthy. There was no one around to ask to the clean them so we actually had to go get wet paper towels to clean the tables ourselves. Being that it was breakfast, the first meal of the day, we were very shocked and displeased. Our elevator was also dirty. Someone spilled a small bag of Cheetos and they remained there for the full 3 days we used the elevator. If elevator buttons are being cleaned regularly then how did the Cheetos get missed.

Day 2 we ate at Cascades for breakfast and I was served coffee in a dirty mug (dried food on the rim). I realize buffets are harder to do during Covid but most of the food was barely warm. The only hot food was the fresh omelets. We had supper at Ravello and my daughter was given a glass of water with lip stick on the rim. We got there right when they opened at 4 pm so they weren't busy and could have over looked it. We were the only ones there till almost 4:30.

The rooms were excellent and sound proof, great for getting a good night's rest. The beds were so comfortable. It made going back to our rooms to rest up something to look forward to. Also the staff was excellent at providing whatever you needed: more bottled water, soap, toothbrushes, etc.

Since cleanliness isn't part of the hotel rating in this review (below) I still gave the overall rating of 3 out of 5 (above).

Room Tip: Rooms were very quite, but the atriums were very noisy (music and lots of people talking)

Hello-- I'm so sorry to hear this. Our chief commitment is to provide our guests with an experience that makes them feel safe. I am very sorry to hear that this was not your experience with us. In accordance with Marriott’s “Commitment to Clean” practices, the resort is enforcing mask mandates for guests two and above, providing enhanced cleaning technology, hospital-grade disinfectants, attendants dedicated to sanitizing frequently throughout the day, facilitating new social distancing protocols, and implementing hundreds of new cleaning processes designed to keep guests safe while they enjoy the resort’s amenities. We will continue reviewing our practices to see where we fall short, and we sincerely appreciate you bringing these items to our attention. Thanks, Tim S. Customer Care Specialist

The service was not the best experience that I have at hotels. I would ask at the time of check in. I asked for a room upgrade and they gave it to me.
