A.L. Ferrell, 74, of Woodville, Texas passed away Sunday, August 2, 1998 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Mr. Ferrell was born November 29, 1923 in Round Rock, Texas. He was a long time resident of Woodville and was a retired rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran, a former chief of the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department, past master of the Woodville Magnolia Masonic lodge # 495 and a member of the Woodville Church of Christ.

Funeral services were Tuesday, August 4th at 9 a.m. in the Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Masonic burial by Magnolia Lodge # 495 in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. The Honors of the flag was presented to the family by members of the Woodville V.F.W. Post No. 2033. Officiating at the services was Mark Sloan, pastor of the Woodville Church of Christ.

Serving as pallbearers were LaRue McLarin, George Woolsey, T.L. Gulley, Johnny Harold Tucker, Donald Gardner, Jerry Grimes, R.A. Jernigan, and Joe Smith. Visitation was held Monday, August 3rd from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ferrell of Woodville; son, Lee Ferrell of Round Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Linda Ann and Vernon Werner of Woodville, Bobbie Jo Bean of Cleveland, and Gaynell Abbott of Woodville; brothers W.A. Ferrell of San Antonio, and Larry Ferrell of Round Rock; sister, Betty Miller of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services were under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville, Texas. Published in the Tyler County Booster.
