- G WToronto, Canada616 contributionsThis was our first stop on the island after leaving Stralsund. It opens at 10 am and there is a small hotel at its base. You can park just before the tower and walk to the tower a few hundred meters, not far at all. We got there early and actually had breakfast at the hotel which is served until 10. You have to ask the hotel reception for the key to the tower and you pay 2 euros for entry. There is a steep staircase to the top but more than manageable. The top of the tower has a glass dome and offer views of the surrounding area. Make sure you look at the bricks as they have dates when they were made. - zazu2012London, UK548 contributionsA stand out Lutheran Gothic brick church. The tower collapsed in the 17th Century and, still tall, is not as high as it once was. The entrance area is jaw droppingly enormous and that's before you enter the church. Inside huge lanterns swoop down overhead from the high roof supported on octagonal columns. We saw a little boy having a fantastic time pretending he was a soldier and hiding behind them. The organ is stunning as is the trumpeting angel. You can climb the tower and have great views over Rugen island and the town below. - AndreStirling, UK141 contributionsStopped off with family en-route to Rugen Island and had some good fun going around the this toboggan run, need to mindful when you come to the end as some carriages can come up and behind and shut the cart in front, so whiplash could occur. €2 per shot. Older children will want to go around again.
There is a slide park nearby which is a mission to get to the top so be in shape (lol).
