FamilySearch Volunteers
Michelle Reese
FamilySearch Volunteer Trainer
A long-time volunteer, Michelle works from home and devotes a minimum of fifteen hours per week to the job. After extensive training, Michelle began taking phone calls from FamilySearch users, helping them with problems, and answering their questions. Soon she moved from trainee to trainer for the North America Training team. This team teaches new volunteers the ins and outs of FamilySearch so that they can competently staff the phones and answer questions in the community groups for the United States and Canada. Michelle also serves as a training coordinator for historical records and special indexing projects, and interfaces with other project teams as needed.
Sheila Stai
FamilySearch Wiki Volunteer
Sheila works for Research Wiki, a research arm of FamilySearch. Wiki provides resource information for six broad geographical areas: North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Her volunteer work began with four weeks of intense training, with additional training for new projects. From her home, she reviews Wiki pages for the United States, combing through each state, its counties, and smaller locales to make sure that all pages are uniform and accurate. She tests maps and links to be sure that they work, removes outdated or inaccurate information, evaluates new materials that are submitted to FamilySearch Wiki, and adds population tables, vital statistics, and links to additional information.
