I loved going to Westwood, they put allowed me to participate in their veterinary assistant program and i graduated from the school with multiple veterinary medicine certificates and even a veterinary assistant license. I also was encouraged by my teachers and advisors to push myself further and started dual enrollment my sophomore year, took multiple Aice and AP classes, and even graduated with a 4.3 GPA.
I am a senior going to the MOA magnet program at Fort Pierce Westwood Academy. The best part of going to Fort Pierce Westwood Academy is the opportunities given to students in the MOA program. The ability to work alongside professionals in the Marine & Oceanography field has allowed me to understand possible future jobs when going into that degree. Some downsides of Fort Pierce Westwood Academy has to be the geographical separation between the main school and magnet school buildings. It is nice to be in a smaller school, but many sports, clubs, and activities are difficult to attend for MOA students. Another issue is the divide between the main building teachers, curriculums, and overall culture making MOA students repelled from taking classes there. CTE pathways are also difficult for MOA students. Academically, I want to see the main campus learn from MOA's learning structure to provide a happier environment for main campus students and create an inviting one for magnet students.
It was a great and humble experience, even when I didn't spend as much time on campus in comparison to other students. The biggest opportunity I received was being capable of joining the Dual Enrollment program that allows students to graduate with both a high school diploma and an A.A. degree. I made some strong and fortified connections and memories with many friends in my time with the school.
