JOYCE MARIE GREEN
Joyce Marie Green, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, in Hillman, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Dec. 23, 1929, in Alpena, Michigan, Joyce was the daughter of the late Gordon and Jean (Connor) Wickham. She was 93 years old.
Joyce married the love of her life, William Green, on Dec. 24, 1947. They shared a beautiful life together, raising their family and creating lasting memories until William’s passing on December 17, 2011. Joyce is survived by her children, Constance (Frank) Chaprnka of Naples, Florida, Stephanie (David) Hagaman of Oscoda, and Bill (Linda) Green of Hillman. She was a proud grandmother to Damien (Brandie) Hagaman, Danielle (Dave) Clark, Frank (Danielle) Chaprnka, Courtney (Eileen) Doss, and Derek (Lacey) Green, as well as a doting great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by her sister, Mary Kirkpatrick.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Wickham. Joyce dedicated her life to education, serving as an elementary school teacher for Hillman Schools for 30 years. She was a passionate educator who touched the lives of countless students, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Through her work, Joyce demonstrated her love for children and her commitment to helping them grow and succeed. A woman of many interests, Joyce loved entertaining and hosting get-togethers with family and friends. She had a knack for preparing delicious meals and ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cared for. Joyce enjoyed playing rummy with her loved ones, and her laughter was contagious. Time spent with her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Joyce was a gentle soul, always happy and full of love. She was thoughtful in her actions, always considering the feelings of others and striving to make a positive impact on those around her. Her loving nature brought comfort and warmth to everyone she encountered, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her 93 years, Joyce Marie Green left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Per her wishes, Joyce has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
