At its core, the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films have always been creature features with terrifying dinosaurs that can inspire awe or ignite a primal fear of animals much larger than humans. Nevertheless, the constant within the films is that these animals evoke emotion, whether it's excitement or sheer terror. That said, cuteness rarely comes into the mix when talking about these creatures. However, that hasn't stopped Jurassic World: Dominion from introducing a new dino that is sure to give fans of the franchise their own Baby Yoda effect.

Jurassic World: Dominion follows the main characters of the previous five films as they navigate a world that's equally inhabited by dinosaurs. However, their presence disrupts the planet's natural order and threatens the potential extinction or diminishment of the human race. With humanity no longer at the top of the food chain, things become direr in a short span of time. But amidst the chaos, there are also heartwarming moments like the introduction of Blue's first offspring.

In the previous Jurassic World films, Blue is the only surviving raptor from Owen Grady's (Chris Pratt) original pack. She's highly intelligent and resourceful. But up until this point, she was supposed to be the last of her kind. As of now, not much is known about Blue's child, but it's clear that their bond is strong as the infant is ecstatic to see her again. The moment in the trailer is adorable and also nods to the few cute moments with dinosaurs in previous installments.

One of the earliest memories of cute dinosaurs in the series comes from the original film when Dr. Sattler, Dr. Grant and the others encounter a baby velociraptor just being born. While the scene leans more into the ominous nature of what the raptor will eventually become, it's hard not to admire how cute the newborn looks. There's also a moment in Jurassic World where kids can ride baby versions of other dinosaurs like triceratops. These smaller creatures would again be seen in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as one of the triceratops babies gets captured with its mother in the Lockwood Mansion.

Bringing in a baby velociraptor brings the series full circle and shows how unique Blue is. Not only is she surviving in frigid temperatures while potentially being cold-blooded, but she is also capable of asexual reproduction, which nods to her genetic roots. In Jurassic Park, it's commented that West African tree frogs can spontaneously change sex to allow for reproduction. With Blue, this may be the case as a new life that looks identical to her has been revealed. The infant also gives audiences an animal to attach to and a desire to keep it safe at all costs, like Grogu in The Mandalorian.

Jurassic World: Dominion represents how far the franchise has come since the original film. With the world now populated by dinosaurs, it's easy for fear to take over. However, the introduction of Blue's baby shows that there's still some beauty amidst the chaos and change. As fans will likely find a new love for this creature as they did with its mother, it begs the question of what other adorable animals may appear before the credits roll.

To see Baby Blue's arrival, Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters June 10, 2022.
