Shuttle was right there as I came out of the airport from my late flight & hotel is super close to airport. So it was a quick trip, quick check in and quick to bed. The bed was hard to me but I’m one of those people that loves a soft bed. The breakfast the next morning was great and was able to enjoy it before getting picked up by Enterprise for my car.

My son and I stayed at this hotel for one night during a college visit. We got at the hotel and the parking lot was full. I went in to see if there were any rooms left and the lady at the desk told me she had four rooms left. We were therefore able to get a room. When she went to place us in a room, she asked me if I had a preference of the 3rd or 4th floor and then she told me she would put us away from the elevator so it would be quieter. She was very nice to take our comfort into consideration. The room was nice and clean and we had a very comfortable stay.

Not one staff member wore a mask, not even the van drivers. The woman at the front desk was nice enough, gave me a choice of room. I told her that I’d like to be far away from the elevators, she put in a room right next to the elevators. Bed was cozy, pillows were tiny, room was clean (but very dated). It’s fine for a quick airport overnight but not worth the price.

My husband and I stayed at the Des Moines Hampton inn airport location on March 27-29. We were extremely disappointed with our stay. The front desk attendant was kind upon check in and I immediately noticed no masks on others in the check in area. She said the hotel strictly enforced them, but no one was asked to wear a mask and we saw people left and right unmasked. This made us extremely concerned. We stayed at the Hampton inn bc their covid protocol online made us feel very safe. Our experience was the opposite !!

We stayed on the second floor and our first night was awful. The bed springs stuck into our backs and we couldn’t get comfortable. The air conditioner/fan had a high pitched squeal that hurt our ears, the shower/tub dripped all night and kids ran up and down the hall all night despite our calls downstairs for help. We didn’t get any sleep. The next morning I visited the front desk to complain about our situation and ask for help. Thankfully, the attendant moved us to the fourth floor. We went through the struggle of moving everything and discovered our new room had a bad smell to it, the fan again had a high squeal, the shower leaked even worse than the first and there was a substance that looked that orange hair gel on the door frame of the bathroom and all over the desk chair. We didn’t have time to move again, so we asked to speak to the GM. We were told he isn’t available on weekends and we couldn’t speak to any manager. We left and returned later to sleep in the hotel. At this point we learned the fitted sheet didn’t fit the bed at all. For about an hour we continued to get up and tried desperately to pull the sheet onto the bed, but it was pointless and we were unsuccessful. We spent another sleepless night on a hard bed, in a smelly room wrapped in the fitted sheet that didn’t fit. Noises from the dripping bathroom shower and screaming air unit were additional concerns.

I’m so Unsatisfied with our stay. It wasn’t worth even $10 a night to go through this. I’m extremely frustrated that we paid anything for this stay and that we’ve been unable to speak to a manager to remedy the issue. The Hampton inn airport Des Moines is really a rough place. Nothing like the Hampton inns we’ve stayed before. Truly a disappointment.

Carpet had stains, room was dirty, room had a “feel of masking” the uncleanliness. Weren’t able to get additional pillows as requested, so made for challenge in sleeping.
Unfortunately, this experience was not a good one. The room’s lack of cleanliness felt as we were at an “off the side road motel” instead of a Hampton Inn.
“Checking in”was really great- quick and easy. Front desk personnel was friendly and efficient.
Although we didn’t have breakfast, it looked great.
Checking out was easy as we were able to place our keys in disinfecting bowl.
In retrospect, we could have considered asking for a different room, but our long exhausting drive made us just “Make it work” it was only one night there.

The room was nice and clean when we showed up. However, no housekeeping is provided at this hotel. For 4 days we had to clean our own room, go beg for towels, find Kleenex and toilet paper. There are other hotels by the airport that provide full housekeeping service.

Got this hotel for $129 per night (includes taxes and fees) thru Priceline. It’s in downtown DesMoines. Hotel is connected to a Residence Inn. It appears to be safe for walking. My husband and I walked 1 block to get food at a bar and grill, but mostly a bar, I was scared. We don’t drink alcohol and don’t go to bars. We ordered chicken enchiladas and a burger to go although there were booths to sit and eat. The food was actually good!!!!

Now back to the hotel, the room is clean, easy check in, mini fridge and microwave, iron and ironing board in room. Breakfast of cheese omelets, sausage, boiled eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, waffles, etc.

Note: parking in garage is $15 per day, street meters are $1.25 per hour from 9am to 9pm , so whatever deal u get factor that cost into your decision.

We try to stay at a Hampton Inn whenever we travel. This location was close to the airport and had a shuttle. Close to restaurants and shops. Disappointed that they did not have bagged breakfasts for us (and other customers) when we had an early morning flight on Tuesday. We have always had bagged muffins, snack bars, fruit and water on the counter. Not here. Most expensive Hampton we have ever stayed at and we would have gotten something to have in the room had we known nothing would be downstairs.

We are partial to the Hilton family of hotels and particularly like the Hampton Inns so we look for them. We needed something close to the airport for an overnight stop. The shuttle was prompt, the staff was friendly and everything was really clean. The hotel was quiet and the beds are always comfortable so we got a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was warm and fresh promptly at 6 A.M. so we could eat and get on our way. It was raining, but if we were staying longer and the sun came out, they had a nice pool outside that we would’ve loved to take advantage of.
