Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal’s father, Sham Kaushal, got emotional while sharing his cancer survival story. He is a renowned stunt director, and has been a part of the film industry for several years now. He recently shared that he was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago and that his sons were too young to understand. He also said that the doctors told him that he wouldn’t survive.

Sham Kaushal managed to keep his personal life and family life low-key. However, while interacting with Rajshri Unplugged, he chose to reveal that he was battling stomach cancer in 2003.

WHEN VICKY KAUSHAL'S FATHER TALKS ABOUT HIS CANCER DIAGNOSIS

Sham Kaushal had just finished shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya in Ladakh. He recalled, “As soon as I got back, there were a lot of complications in my stomach. Sometime in October, I had to get admitted to Nanavati Hospital.” After his biopsy, he was diagnosed with cancer. He added, “The doctors said that I won’t survive.”

During his treatment, his sons were teenagers.“I accepted that fact that I won’t survive, so I prayed to God that I am not unhappy. I am 48. I started from nothing and I have achieved a lot. You take me away, but if you are going to save me, then don’t make me a weak person. I can’t live like a weak person,” he added.

Sham Kaushal shared that all his fears went away as soon as he prayed. He slowly recovered after undergoing a few surgeries. He was discharged after staying in the hospital for 50 days. He said, “After they said I won’t survive, I saw the best days of my life. I won all the awards after 2003. My best films came after that. My kids became successful after that.” Vicky and Sunny recently shared a cute post wishing their father on his birthday.

Sham began his journey in the industry as a stuntperson in the late 70s. He has worked in films like Bajirao Mastani, PK, Sanju, Dangal, Padmaavat and others. Meanwhile, his sons, Vicky and Sunny, are keeping their talents alive. Vicky Kaushal recently starred in Zara Hatke Zara Backhe alongside Sara Ali Khan. Whereas Sunny Kaushal was last seen in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga with Yami Gautam Dhar.
