Overview[]

"Starhunter: ReduX" is a complete re-edit of the original 44 episodes of "Starhunter", featuring updated special effects, newly-shot scenes, and a complete 4K transfer from the original 16:9 anamorphically recorded super-16mm film to full HD. The series was advertised to feature "censored scenes restored, bold ideas returned, episodes re-edited to match original scripts, [and] never seen before material".

The series premiered on El Rey Network on Tuesday 29th May 2018 at 8PM ET.

Notable changes[]

  • The glowing eye effect used to show the Divinity Cluster in action has been changed; it is now green instead of blue.
  • Several actors who were previously absent from Starhunter 2300 are included in the ReduX versions:
    • Michael Paré reprises his role as Dante Montana in newly-shot linking footage for season 2.
    • In the original version of 2300, original Caravaggio actor Murray Melvin is replaced by Graham Harley. In ReduX, Harley's scenes have been reshot with Melvin throughout all 22 episodes in which he appears (though Harley's face is briefly seen at the beginning of the episode Rebirth).
    • Likewise, a scene featuring Penny Montana that recast the role to Michèle Duquet has been partially reshot with original actress Heidi von Palleske, providing a more consistent continuity between the two seasons.
  • 5,348 CGI special FX (CGI) have been outright replaced and redesigned from scratch or heavily modified.
  • All episodes have been significantly re-edited to improve continuity, pace and a new integration with CGI work.
  • All of the music scores are enhanced or utterly replaced by original scoring by original composer Donald Quan. This includes the main theme for 2300, as the rights for the original theme song, an instrumental version of "Darkness" by English musician Peter Gabriel called "Darker Star", could not be secured.
  • Sound it fully remixed and generally denser, more layered, and aiding in greater clarity and overcoming continuity concerns.
