I like Katy High School for the most part. Most of the teachers are nice and they teach really well. You have a lot of great resources for college and a lot of good classes such as AP, KAP, and Dual-Credit. The coaches are really good too and help you a lot. The food isn’t the best, but it isn’t the worst either. So far, it’s been really safe and we haven’t had any incidents.
It is a great environment for anyone who wants to be involved. There are many things to do such as clubs and athletics. Also the school spirit and administration is over the top and amazing.
I genuinely love Katy High School, however the cleanliness isn’t the best and there are broken stalls in the bathroom. I don’t think I have ever not seen a dead cockroach at least once a day. On the bright side, the teachers that were picked for me helped me flourish in my academics. They truly seem like they love to teach.
Katy high school culture and community was amazing. The friends I have made and the experiences i've made had been well worth it. The only bad experience i've had was a bad english teacher for 2 years and even though she was bad I still had a funny class which made it better.
Katy high school is definitely more geared towards sports rather than the arts or any other area revolving in the school. Academics, extracurriculars, and etc are not valued as much as sports are, specifically football, but the school is still VERY good and very advanced in what they do!
My experience within Katy High School is a great one. The amount of diversity and the amount of extra-curricular activities you can do, have no limit. The things that Katy High School can change are how they can proceed to do certain things, including discipline, but other than that, being within Katy High School is a great experience and is a fun school to go to.
The worst part about my experiences in high school was the communication for absences. As a very active FFA member I miss quite a bit of school and sometimes those absences are not communicated and can sometimes affect me negatively.
Katy High School encompasses a lot of school spirit and pride, giving a small-town feel. Although I did have some fantastic teachers here, they were just few and far between. The quality of teachers in many subjects is seriously lacking. In my experience, the teachers are in some cases not sufficiently educated in the subject, particularly in upper-level courses. Improvements could be made to the quality of teachers and support of all sports equally.
As a student who went through track, I can with great certainty say that Katy High School loves their sports, especially football. Because of this, we do well. Since we do well, we get fairly good funding, and as such, we get some lovely teachers. My favorite teacher was Mr. Blanco, who graduated from Rice and taught AP Calculus AB, BC, and also multivariable calculus. The coaches are highly supportive of the students/athletes who compete academically and physically. I believe we have such great opportunities. The schools in Katy ISD have a shared facility that offers certifications for professional careers such as being an auto tech, dental assistant, working in EMS, engineering, law, and so many more. I personally chose the pharmacy tech option and got a job that I work this day two years later through my amazing internship opportunity with Walgreens. The teachers care about the community and health of their students, especially Dr. Rhonda Burrough. I have no complaints for Katy.
Katy High School is very nice, but it gets crowded very easily since it's an older school in the district.
They need to check how the teachers are teaching their students because sometimes teachers are not good or up to that level. I had this one teacher not going to give names but he is fired now that didn't really teach us good skills. Also, there needs to be a safer way to climb ropes because there really tall and long. Last year I fell from those ropes and it wasn't fun. I wasn't the only one though.
The school is beautiful itself. The some of the people like the athletes I believe are stuck up in my opinion and some of the other clubs so its kind of hard if you really want to be friends with them. Learning in the school is amazing, I've never had a problems with the teachers, anytime I don't understand something their always so eager to help me understand better.
Katy High is a place of diversity and challenges. Like all high schools, some teachers don't teach well, some teachers have great technique (if you're lucky enough). The people here are interesting, if I say so myself. There's some mean, nasty people over here, there are also the people who make the school worthwhile. The courses? Don't even get me started. I've never worked so hard and stayed up so late before just to do a school assignment. Actually, LOADS of homework and having to balance the assignments with studying? It's incredibly challenging. But, that's what makes Katy High so worthwhile, though. You get to experience the high school life you don't see in the movies. You get to experience the sneaking out to get some food from our food shops right in front of the school, you get to experience the different types of people, you experience hardships and challenges of trying to balance all your activities with school work. I think that's why I love Katy High, regardless. -Colette
This school truly opens your eyes to the “high school” experience. The friends I made at this school are really special and I would love to stay connected with them in the future, beyond high school. The teachers for all the classes offered on campus are truly nice and assist their students whenever they face troubles. The clubs offered at Katy HS are vivid and unique, like the Astro Space Club and Mu Alpha Theta. There are clubs that accept any and all students at KHS. At first, I had a bad impression on the school, based on what others hypothesized, but it didn’t take long for the campus to change my mind. Even if I had the chance to change my high school, I would never.
This school officers alot of programs and opportunities but can sometimes feel like they don't actually care about outside situations and can be over strict due to failure from other teachers
Katy is an extremely sports-centric environment with no emphasis on personal development. If one is involved in sports or a community activity, they will fare well. Otherwise, there are not many opportunities for someone interested in screenwriting. I will say, though, some of the AP teachers are brilliant! The rest are not helpful at all.
Katy has a real community to it, with strong fine arts and athletic programs as well as FFA. It's not as large like many of the KatyISD schools and offers a more close knit group of students. While the school has some ups and downs, these aren't outrageous and are similar to many high schools. Only thing that stands out is being such an old school- it has sprawl and be difficult to navigate at first as well as the technical issues that appear from age (such as issues with the electric system, celling was open all year long). I've been fulfilled attending the school and participating in a little bit of everything.
Good school specifically due to smaller class sizes in comparison to other schools and a famous football team (9 time state champs).
