Never has being insanely morally questionable ever been so sexy, thanks Cheryl Ladd!
In all seriousness, this movie is painfully ok but not much else. Watched it last week and completely forgot to review it. Cheryl gives a great performance, something that seems to be a reoccurring theme with her, but everyone else feels like they couldn't care less. The script is bland, the directing non-existent (this could've been quite a lot shorter and I definitely would've liked it quite a bit more), but hey! Cheryl Ladd is cute so I can't hate it!
Playing the lead in Deadly Care, a horrors-of-addiction movie centered on drug abuse in the medical profession, Cheryl Ladd delivers what is incontestably the best performance I’ve seen from her, and there’s strong support from Jennifer Salt, as well as a memorable cameo by Belinda Balaski as Ladd’s suicidally alcoholic sister. The actresses are responding to the challenge of Lane Slate’s teleplay, an intelligent piece of work, but excessively literary, with dialogue that toggles between the hardboiled and the florid when it isn’t mixing the two. The mannered language sticks out inappropriately in a made-for-TV movie, but it’s also interesting to listen to, and I enjoyed judging how well Ladd handled the phrase “most of whom were balanced in that…
“Blood?”
“…You mean when I throw up?”
“Well, I’m not talkin’ about your period!”
Cheryl Ladd in a nurse’s uniform…Ooh yeah.
The synopsis of this film pretty much tells all. Though the plot is pretty straightforward, I still really enjoyed it because of several jokes that were made throughout and especially the sass! Seriously, I was not expecting to burst out laughing at some points!
Cheryl is fantastic here and of course, beautiful as always. The scene where she was singing and dancing to “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes was just adorable to me. Loved whenever she would freak out as well!
Overall, this film may be simple for the most part, but it certainly had some great moments that entertained me a bunch.
