Recorded at my late lamented Glasgow Apollo back in 1982 with me in the audience. Four fine songs, four excellent performances, I can just imagine the balcony bouncing along in time.
“Can’t Let Go” was adopted from Ferry’s solo album “The Bride Stripped Bare”, “My Only Love” was a highlight from Roxy’s “Flesh and Blood” while the others tunes are by two of Ferry’s favourite writers.
Four songs of obsessive love in different degrees of torment a la Ferry.

Relatively easy to find on vinyl, it is surprisingly difficult to find in any of the online music platforms. Too bad because this is one of the best EPs released in the 80's. Two excellent Roxy Music tracks and two outstanding covers of iconic songs. Jealous Guy and Like a Hurricane are outstanding. I mentioned in another review that if my house was burning I would go back in and grab my David and David album. Well, I'd probably spend a few minutes looking to save this record as well

Saw the show at Radio City Music Hall at 15, still have the tshirt, and it still fits. Record is good too. Since it was ages ago I don't remember much but they opened with "India" with the curtains drawn. The curtains fell down dramatically (they must have been weighted at the top), and they went right into "The Main Thing". I will never forget it.

Ooof, way to suck any feeling out of these songs with this antiseptic live recording. They did NOT quit before their time.

Nice live set from France, which then was reissued as part of the longer Roxy Music Heart Still Beating

I first listened to this album from an evening programme on the radio. I was impressed by the performance. That was around the early 1980s. Then I read a review of their live video 'The High Road Show' by a local critics (I did not have video player at that time so I could only use my imagination how they were like on stage). Their music was labelled 'art rock' by the press (music critics) at that time.

I became a fan.

A reason why I liked them was probably because they stood somewhere between old school rock and new wave. They certainly had great techniques, but they also got style. Those New Romantics in the 80s owed Roxy a credit. Yet I thought Roxy was much more solid, which allowed them to go much more freeform on stage than any of those New Romantics groups--'Can't Let Go' and 'My Only Love' on this EP demonstrate that.

I bought 'The High Road Show' video CD many years later, and was a bit disappointed to find 'My Only Love' quite different from my memory. Maybe it's a different cut? Neil Hubbard's guitar solo was fantastic on the EP version, or was it just my impression? Now I can watch the video and find him even making a few slips, and he didn't seem to quite able to catch the mood...

Anyway, I listened to the EP many many times in the 80s. 'Roxy is the best' was what I used to think. I listened to all of their official albums and was quite familiar with the arrangments of their songs--well I thought I was. I still put their albums on occasionally, and think Bryan Ferry certainly did some great works in his career, it's just that I don't feel as strongly as before.

The High Road is an excellent sounding live EP. It includes two Roxy songs: "Can't Let Go" which was debuted on the EP and "My Only Love" from Flesh + Blood. It also includes two well-done covers: Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane" and John Lennon's "Jealous Guy". I recall wanting to pick up the EP when I heard the live version of "My Only Love" on the radio. It is still an enjoyable listen, though perhaps not essential. There is also a "The High Road" tour DVD available which contains fourteen selections (including the four mentioned above) and may give fans a better feel for what an early 1980's Roxy Music show was like.
