Last year at Brookwood High School was a blast! Some teachers were absolute rockstars – going above and beyond to make sure we got the tricky concepts. But, let's be real, not all teachers were on the same page. Some made it feel like we were deciphering ancient scrolls during lectures. Thankfully, the awesome ones and the support from friends helped navigate the academic rollercoaster. Extracurriculars range from sports, clubs, or artsy stuff, there was always something for everyone. Also, from pep rallies to homecoming, the school spirit was infectious. Of course, it wasn't all rainbows and sunshine. Late-night study sessions and exams were a reality. But facing those challenges with friends made it less of a headache. Then came the curveball – virtual learning. Adapting to online classes was a journey, to say the least. It was weird but kind of cool how technology kept us connected. The friends, the lessons, the highs and the lows – all of it shaped this unforgettable chapter.
Starting off at Brookwood was hard for me. I was afraid to constantly communicate with my teachers, and talk to other students online. However, when I finally went in-person during the middle of freshman and into sophomore year I was welcomed by teachers and other staff that were ready to help me learn! I also made friends who embraced my passions and flaws as well. Although there were some questionable things that went on with the behavior of students I was able to focus on myself and focus on the work that I knew needed to be done. During my Junior year we were given a new Principle and he is amazing! He really does care about the students and is always very welcoming. Many teachers at Brookwood really do care about the students and their passion for learning and culture. I think it's really important for students to have teachers that they can go to for personal advice and not just academic! That's what they have at Brookwood! As a senior I've generally loved my experience.
