Dominguez High School is alright. I really like Think Together, an after-school program, and I attend their clubs after-school. Something that can be really bad is the teachers and students. It can kinda depend on luck if you get good teachers and good classmates. What matters more is your class and classmates because with the same teacher, they can be nice with one class but more strict and 'mean' with another so that really depends on the students in that class.
As a current senior in Dominguez High School I can argue that even though the school is falling apart and some rooms struggle with cleanliness and in some cases the roofing falls apart. Even though theres’s not much diversity, I was surrounded by people of the same background and culture this allowed me to relate to students and easily make friends. The staff councelors also do a good job at informing students on what they need to graduate and what classes would be best for them. Teachers are also highly suportive and always keep students engaged. Not to mention, student have access to great resources provided by the college center or the other support programs such GearUp and ThinkTogether for students to get access to scholarships, internships, or dual enrollment options.
It’s been fun over the years and I wish I could stay longer, but we only get 1 high school experience. All the clubs and classes I’m in get the right funding and they don’t go over budget dispite not being a higher income school.
My overall experience was okay. Without the support of my mom I don’t think I would have made it. The teachers were not supportive at all. I would like to see a change in teacher support and more options with electives.
The best part about being a Don in Dominguez is the amazing friendships you for with students and teachers. However, there is plenty of fights. The food isn’t appetizing and is sometimes even cold.
Throughout my high school career, I have experienced good and bad things. Some good things that I have experienced is how supportive and welcoming the administration is; teachers provide resources that students may need and offer 1 on 1 help. Some bad things I have experienced at Dominguez is the food, the littering, and how students damage school property.
There are many great teachers and staff that do well in encouraging learning and exposing students to great resources. Office staff are focusing on the wrong thing that doesn’t affect us in any way but think that it is such as enforcing a dress code. Tardy sweeps also seem unnecessary. It’s one thing to tell students to get to class on time but making them sit in a room where they waste even more class time is hypocritical.
Dominguez is a very unique school, though it’s called very many names and is known for being “bad”. It’s not perfect at all, but I overall enjoyed my experience there due to the people and not really due to teachers or the school itself. Some teachers are amazing but some are less than enjoyable to have. I’ve had my fair share of teachers Ive disliked heavily, however I met some of the sweetest and best teachers Ive ever had. They offer dual enrollment but I never had the opportunity to learn about internships, about college and more which I believe they lacked in a lot. I heard they offer more now so I hope they’re headed in the right direction. Overall unique experience but not the best, but I have no shame to graduate from there.
My experience at Dominguez High was great, the staff was amazing and always showed me the love and support I needed during my high school journey. They always motivated me and pushed higher education upon us. They prepared us for life after high school and I wouldn't have wanted to graduate from anywhere else.
I think the school has both it's strengths and weaknesses
I think the best thing about the school are the teachers there who actually put in an effort to teach. I would change the curriculum to make it better and easier for students to learn.

There are so many resources that international students can get, they provide help and support for newcomers.
Dominguez Highschool, where many are called Dons and Donas. This highschool was under the Compton District where it's difficult to have opportunities but they did try their best. The staff really provided us with an education that isn't the bare minimum. In my years, they really granted us with resources to be aware of colleges and gave us the belief to go beyond our basic education needs. They pushed and we had the highest honors group of graduating scholars. Props to them but what I wished to see is that they prioritized in the performing arts and not just sports. They didn't provide sources like theater, only one class to take. Many students couldn't afford to do activities involving rigourous activity or simply cannot afford to give the time. While we have performing arts being another outlet that lack in my highschool.
Attending Dominguez high school for 4 years I had many experiences both good and bad. I would like to say that attending Dominguez it was filled with many memories and times I wish I could go back to. I just feel like the school isn't given enough support or love from the dostrict. I've noticed for example some sports don't receive the same support or even money as other sports. I find this a a athlete myself unfair and not eqial. I also found the school at times unorganized and even all over the place. But in the end the school did give me that feeling if school pride and I will always be a don.
It has been an okay school. As time passed through my high school years, they started to add more programs that help with college readiness.
My experience at Dominguez is amazing. There is so much school spirit and love all around. The teachers, students, and even staff are responsible and respectful.
My experience in Dominguez high school was a short stop. My first two years where committed to joining programs and trying to find what was my passion, sadly it was cut short due to COVID cancelling many opportunities and activities during my last two years. My school focused a lot on sports and many of the STEM programs where undermined unfortunately. I would like to see in the future the STEM courses be more recognized and focus on the whole student body and not only just the sport teams.
Dominguez High School has been an average experience for those who have been a student at this high school for all four years. I, myself have been also having an average experience at this school with the learning environment that this school provides. However, there can most definitely be more improvements made to improve this school much more. Sports have always been a big essential part of our school as this is where our school spirit is mainly shown in this section, however, we need to improve our school equipment and our coaches for the future. I believe the clubs and activities that are provided at this school are immaculate as this creates an abundant amount of selections for students. Lastly, school lunch is a huge issue at this school as many students starve all day until they get home because of the unlikeable food that is served at lunch.
