Accessible and inexpensive 50s west coast jazz. Grab it if you see it

Shorty went on to record for RCA and served up big sounding albums with a large rooster of musicians...This way, way back recording is just a petite groups of guys just plain swinging...Aside from Shorty on the trumpet you have Jimmy Giuffre blowing clarinet and sax plus the winning Pete Jolly on piano and Curtiss Counce on bass and jazz great Shelly Manne on the skins...All these years later it remains a dynamite listen...

I purchased a M- copy from Oak Park Records (Oak Park, IL) today and this LP has a very detailed and wide soundstage that fills the room. The previous owner wrote his name on the back cover, Richard J. Parker, and dated when he purchased the LP, Friday, March 1, 1957. Goggling his name, Mr. Parker passed away on December 29, 2020, at the age of 88 and took very good care of his records.

This record really swings. Great example of mid-50's west coast jazz.
