by Linnea Crowther

John Aniston was an actor who starred as Victor Kiriakis on “Days of Our Lives” for decades as well as the father of actress Jennifer Aniston.

Acting career

Aniston’s signature role was Victor, which he began playing in 1985 and played continually until his death. A mobster turned businessman, Victor was a popular villain – in fact, Aniston won 1986 Soap Opera Digest Awards for both Outstanding Villain and Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role. He survived the killing off of his character in 2004, returning to the show in 2005. In 2017, Aniston was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his performance, and he was honored just months before his death with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. Prior to “Days of Our Lives,” he was a cast member of “Love of Live” and “Search for Tomorrow.” Aniston also made appearances on TV shows including “Gilmore Girls,” “Airwolf,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” and “The West Wing.”
