The Last Exit Lyrics
I've never been this far from home
I've got you on my mind
I've been driving through the darkness
Got no destination in mind
[Chorus]
And it's a shame that I had to disappear
The last exit
The last exit
[Verse 2]
I'm drifting off to nowhere
The past, an echo on my mind
In the middle of the desert
The devil trailing just behind
[Chorus]
And it's a shame that I had to disappear
The last exit
The last exit
[Verse 3]
My eyes are getting heavy
My will is almost done
The clouds above are gathеring
Thunder rolling like a drum
And it's a shame that I had to disappеar
The last exit
The last exit
[Outro]
Home, I'm almost home
Home, I'm almost home
About
The official trilogy of Still Corners' road-trips comes to a close in the atmospheric “The Last Exit.” The trilogy began with 2013’s “The Trip,” in which the protagonist sets out on their destination to nowhere, followed by 2018’s “The Message,” which sees the protagonist give a final goodbye to their loved ones, and closing with “The Last Exit,” the official departure and closing to the protagonist’s mysterious adventure.
An accompanying music video was released alongside the song and was inspired by the 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock, with both the music video and the film sharing similar natural landscapes and imagery.

In a world where everyone thinks all the corners of the map are filled in we like to suggest there’s something beyond that, something eternal in the landscape and in our psyche. Maybe you don’t see it every day but it’s there and that’s what we are trying to connect to.
A lot of it was just through the mind’s eye. But actually “The Last Exit” song was one of the earlier ones that were done and we knew that we really wanted to make the video. So we were still in the process of making the album when we spent the time in Joshua Tree to make that video. And, you know, it’s just mesmerizing the landscape there. So that definitely permeated the new songs as well.
