Michaela McManus is an American actress who plays Teleya in The Orville.
Background[]
McManus grew up in Warwick, Rhode Island. She attended and graduated from Fordham University, and later attended NYU's graduate acting program before leaving to pursue acting in Los Angeles, California. She played Lindsey Strauss on the show One Tree Hill.
The Orville[]
McManus was originally brought on as Teleya for a single episode, Krill, as a guest, but after her performance was written into more episodes for Season 2.[1]
McManus's role on The Orville was revealed on May 24, 2017 by Seth MacFarlane to which director Jon Cassar complimented her for "absolutely slaying it" during filming[2] and "bringing grace" to her character Teleya.[3] In December 2018, fans learned that McManus would return as recurring character Janel Tyler.[4] However, her two characters were one and the same: her second character is her first character in disguise.
